  1. Freddy your pic is very nice. After all that time he spent, his pic looks like the whole thing was CG. It doesnt look real at all.
  2. Gen crown fit on my PT 1680 but not sure if its water resistant or not. I always release the stem in the winding position on all my watches. Ive heard people argue both ways, but so far I havent had any problems. Be sure to use nothing but a 1.2mm screwdriver on that ETA to remove the stem. The keyless works are EASILY wrecked by pushing that little button in too far. AFter removing, I measure from the end of the stem to the base of the crown with calipers to get the length. Then I hold the stem with some needle nose plyers and carefully unscrew the crown from the stem. Then you just screw on the Rolex crown. Be sure to make the length the SAME as it was before. You may need to use a half drop of GS hypo or locktight to hold the stem secure at the right length. Then carefully reinsert the stem turning it slightly to "wiggle" it in if needed. Its pretty easy to do.
  3. If you unscrew the crown a little, does the watch start to function? Seems like if the second hand works and the others dont, then there is a bigger problem. If it was an ETA movement then you could just get it serviced, but with these clone movements, I dont know if ETA parts are a direct replacement.
  4. Your watchmaker wouldnt charge much to install it. Hopefully your hands fit on the new movement....
  5. Unfortunately these inserts are very expensive right now. I wouldnt pay $300 for an insert either. Probably best to find a half decent rep insert and put a yuki pearl into it.
  6. Yeah that dial isnt very good, and whats with that second hand? weird. Get an MBW dial if you can find one. If not go for the Yuki like Alligoat says.
  7. Cool video, but why the cheap fake Daytona? Who would spend 10 hours trying to take ONE picture of a $40 watch? lol You could give half the members here a cheap light box and an iPhone 4 and we'd see some much better results.
  8. Theres a whole bunch of gen plexi inserts on VRF right now... 125 without pearl and 250 with aged pearl I think they are.
  9. As much as I don't want to, I'm going to change them to the proper style. I want it to look as original as possible, and because the minute hand is about an inch too short, it kinda drives me nuts
  10. I've never seen a " T SWISS T <25" before on a dial and I was just going to make fun of it until I did one last check.... And heres one on www.doubleredseadweller.com I guess you learn something every day!
  11. I happen to think a Jubilee would look great on your watch.. I just happen to have an extra gen Jubilee laying around that Im not using.... Just kidding. I wouldnt sell it to you if I knew you were putting it on a Sea-dweller! lol
  12. You probably heat the case to 1500 degrees then throw if off your balcony into the driveway to pop the bezel off... I've seen your pictures.... lol
  13. OOOhhhhh YEAH!!!! We should put these crystals on our Sea-dwellers... Im sure the local AD has lots of these in stock lol The ultimate Rolex dome...
  14. The PT inserts are some of the best aftermarket/replica inserts you can get. I know that the watches seem to differ slightly so there may be a couple different styles of inserts, BUT, the insert with yellowish pearl on my 1680 is by far the best one I have seen on any replica watch. If you want you can get a better one, or get a gen one. They are expensive but you can buy one without a pearl and get a pearl from Offrei. His pearls are the same ones Rolex uses. Yuki also has pearls for the same price, but I am not sure of the quality. I wouldnt worry about your cornet on the dial, as its not all that bad. The MBW white dial is VERY good though if you can find one. Failing that you can get a dial from Yuki.

I can only imagine what you consider a "grail" I could build a couple of MY grails just from your extra parts and movements you have laying around right now! Thats about as good as a 16610 franken can get. I wonder if gen SEL's would fit proper on that V1 case? dizz
  16. I got a 16030 that had a rusty movement that was removed. I had everything except the hands and movement. I installed an ETA2836 from my 16600 super sea-dweller and everything lined up perfect inc the datewheel. Some dial dots and a home made spacer with the factory ETA clips and screws... It went to together with absolutely no problems. Stem height is ever so slightly off but its close enough to work freely, and no problems with the canon pin in regards to hand clearance. Date lines up perfectly all the way through the month. Ignore the old MBW 16610 hands. its all I had at the time that were white. As soon as I locate some nice ETA datejust style hands, it will be complete. Then I deceide if Im going to keep it or not. Might do a black dial instead on a Yuki rivet, then it would be something I would wear. 16000 series case takes ETA2836 1600 older series takes ETA2824 Although it does look a little "sporty" with the mercedes hands...
  17. Ive got one in the sales section Have a look and PM me if you like and maybe we can work out a deal dizz
  18. For all you sub modders out there.. this stuff is all pretty cheap. I would be all over this if i was building a WM9 or MBW franken right now. I know i shouldn't have to say it, but i will anyways... Dont ever mention RWG or replica watches on the gen forums. My link
  19. My favorites are the faded ones with missing pearl and broken right through at the top... $850 LOL
  20. HA HA HA! I never knew King King wore a Submariner? Awesome
  21. Nice build!! Lets go back to that dial... as Freddy asked, how did you get that texture? Looks really nice. I try to spray mine with light coats to get texture, but i can never get it like yours.
  22. For the price of JUST the Rolex movement, you could save it to build a complete other franken watch. I know I would rather have 2 super frankens with ETA motors, than one watch with gen motor.
  23. may not be as crazy as you might think... After all, Rolex did make a couple of them back in 1960 Jakes Rolex Blog ROLEX DEEP SEA GMT's
  24. It could be a Rolex from the future... something you picked up in the year 2045. A vintage 2010 model thats seen a hard life. I also agree that the bezels look out of proportion on these new ones. Its too thick and looks funny. When they made the DJ2 they should have made the dial bigger and not just the case size. If you already have the watch, I say go for it! I personally wouldnt spend a lot of money on this sort of thing, but it might make for an interesting project. Maybe a Homage like you said with no product name on the dial but you could keep the Rolex logo on the crown and bracelet... It will be interesting to see what you come up with. Dizz
