  1. Mine took a couple days of hot/cold/dry/moist from going in and out of the house and being at work. I thought mine was scuffed also and was fine for the first little while. The crystal will fail soon because it cant handle the stress from being so tight on there. If it doesnt, then you are lucky, but mine all failed after a week or so. Just dont want to see you toast your movement from moisture because it will rust FAST after it gets wet. Hopefully you will be ok, but be careful.
  2. Then you would never be able to mount a dial or movement. They would fall right through to the plexi.
  3. I dont think the MBW datewindow is smaller than gen is it?
  4. Ofrei has the same ones i believe that Rolex uses for service replacement. Freddy, jojo or Nanuq would know for sure.. I wonder what your guy would charge for a 1680 replacement case and caseback?
  5. Its not a small scrape, your crystal is cracked. It looks like a scrape but 99% chance its not. The rehaut on these watches is too thick and when you snap on that new crystal (fits way too tight), you get hundreds of small cracks from the bottom upwards. I toasted TWO crystals on my PT1680 case. I thought mine was fine also... until one day after washing the dishes, I saw that my Sub was full of fog inside. Then after I dried it out, I wore it out in the rain to walk my dog... more fog in the crystal...
  6. VERY interesting that you mention this. I just used a liquid metal polish soaking and flexing on my Yuki 7602 also. I wanted to wear the inside of the links like you said, to mimic tens of years of wear. Mine is super stiff as all the links are jammed together from the springs. I worked it for a few min then threw it into the ultrasonic. Still stiff though. How long did you grind away on yours for? I want mine nice and loose. Got pics?????
  7. A truly interesting story of a watch with a lot of provenance and history. Interesting insight into some aspects of Rolex too. Really good read if you havent seen it before. Rolex Story
  8. Yeah I would do something cool with that 3135. I wouldn't build a franken 16610. i would do a 16800 or something. I would look for a gen 16610. 16600 or 16660 Sea-dweller with a rusted out movement and buy it for parts. Then swap in your nice 3135 and have a full gen. Thats an expensive movement, it needs a nice home.
  9. Funny that you should mention that, as I was looking at this one earlier today Puretime 6541 It comes with the ETA2846 so thats a BIG bonus over the Cartel A2836 for the same price. Im going to email Angus and see if I can get one of these with the good rivet bracelet off the 6542 GMT. I would have to get: Aftermarket 6538 dial 8mm Crown. I hear DSN has these also but I couldnt find them. Does anyone know what he charges for one? Nightwatch has them also. This is the dial I would get I think Yuki 6538 dial Im going to see what Angus has to say. Chinese new year right now, so this may take a while to get started. dizz
  10. Cooll thx D, that looks like a good crown dizz
  11. I agree the Yuki case it nice. He also has this complete Tudor which looks really nice. Its prob $900 though. Yuki 7922 Big Crown I really dont want to spend a ton of $ on this one. I would rather buy the PC case and mod it myself if I can. @Perry, do you know if the Perfect Clones cases take gen crystals?? If a gen crystal and gen size dial will work in that one for $188 then I think I'll start with that
  12. Where can you get a better 8mm crown? Yuki has them but they are $250 I was also just looking at Joshs 6538 to start with but if I need to add a $250 crown, then I may as well buy a Yuki case set? What do you think of Yuki's 6538 case? I assume its around $500 but I will have to email him. All i would have to buy would be a dial and i would be set.
  13. This doesnt look too bad. I think i am going to build a big crown sub or tudor. My link Rehaut looks a little deep, And im sure the case alone will be $500. Maybe I will wait until next month and get a MBW 5510 type big crown case set and go from there. I looked at the PT GMT6542 again and there is no way I can live with that Rehaut. I was going to get the 5510 from Perfect clones but the bracelet is crap. I wish angus had a 6538 with ETA2846 and that 7602 stretchy bracelet that comes on that new GMT. Any suggestions for a good case to start with? Does any dealer have a 5510 with eta2846?
  14. Errrr... Buddy Ubi.. lol I need to start a new project.. not sure If i want to get a EXP2 vintage and turn it into a GMT1675, buy the 6542 from Puretime and try to overlook that wokky rehaut, or build a 5510/6538 Movement will be a 2836 GMT or a 2846 sub
  15. I want to build a 5510, but I think before I build a good franken, I am going to build a cheaper version to see if it "speaks" to me or not. What are your opinions on this one from Perfect Clones? Swap the dial, plexi and do a little polishing.. Anyone know if these take a gen size dial or plexi?? Can anyone recommend a more accurate starting watch? My next one will be a yuki case, dial, gen bracelet etc, but like i said, i want to build a lower price one first to see if I ever like these no crown guard subs or not. Perfect Clones 5510 Dizz
  16. Looks ok i guess. Check the cartel dealers and compare as this one looks like an older version. Bezel insert, dial and plexy all need to be replace on the Silix. It would be better if it came with a 2846 low beat movement. Bracelet looks ok on this one.
  17. I agree, the new DW case has some problems according to these pics. Pusher recesses are too large and to close to the top of the case, lugs are too tall and need to be reshaped, and the bezel is too steep of an angle. The top surface of the bezel with the engravings needs to be flatter and not angled up so much to the crystal. This is a common problem on Daytona reps especially the new seconds at 6 models.
  18. Clasp could be geniune, links could be fake... need more pics.
  19. Ive heard rumors of a new V23 copy movement of high quality coming out soon... expensive though.
  20. Ubi have you thought about what movement you are going to use? You dont want to spend all that money on a 1570 do you? You should install one of those new Asian copy 3135 movements or better yet a nice quartz movement! (Im secretly trying to sabatoge this project because I havent even seen it yet, and Im already jelous!) What case are you using? Im dying of suspense here!
  21. The SSD used 316L which is bright and white like the Breitlings. With the 904 stainless, it has more nickle content to combat corosion I believe. Some people cant even wear the newer Rolex watches because of nickle alergies from the higher percentage of nickle in the mix. But yes they are two different colors of metal. Stainless steel will vary from almost a brownish to white to blue looking depending on the type used. I prefer the good old 316L stainless as I like the bright white color.
  22. You need to find the 1680 that you want. Make sure it will take gen parts, then buy a tophat aftermarket crystal for $15 and install it. Most all rep crystals are junk and need to be replaced.
  23. Heres Freddy's writeup on it 7206 Yuki bracelet review by freddy333
  24. I wish I could do the same thing to my freekin Yuki 7602. Anyone find a solution for those silly endlinks yet? dizz
  25. Absolute junk! You would be better off buying the $100 version of the watch with the $15 Seagul movement.
