  1. 1) because people in this hobby from some time know that the reps aren't 100% = gens, so the research should be done on the model in advance and the flaws asked at that point. While it happens that noobs go by instinct, and sometime they choose some not-that-good piece. Then, when they got the QC pics, they come here and get a lot of messages showing them all the misalignment between that piece and the gen. They get [censored] of and start hassling the TD for what have been their own bad choice since the beginning. 2) 7 sec isn't bad at all. And once serviced and properly regulated it will run COSC.
  2. It is a controversial point mate (and I can't technically correct it now). On RWG.bz you risk the ban if posting QC pic. Here it is tolerated by I've seen TDs are annoyed by this practice. So I still think it is better to avoid it, but it is not "a rule", just a suggestion.
  3. Yep. Anyway I've to open it as I noticed it doesn't autowind. I hear the rotor spinning but looks like it is just spinning freely... After 2 days wearing it the power reserve is fully gone and have to manual wind it.
  4. The rule that prohibits to post QC pic is from RWG.bz, not from here
  5. There are very few watches that are produced from more than a factory (some Rolex, Panerai bronzo and very few others). Most probably your one has been done (if it exists!) from one single producer. Therefore the dealer is quite irrelevant, providing it is a trusted one from our list, since they will all give you the same piece.
  6. MyManMat is a great guy. His realizations are awesome. If he said he can look at your watch you can trust him. I'm from the country of your nickname's surname, Italy Try to pm Mike on the Bike, he also is from NY state and long term member, other than a moderator here.
  7. Generally speaking these watches are often dry or over-oiled, and I'd not trust anyway the chinese oils they put in there... Before you think to spry some WD40 in the watch ( joking! ): a 7750 needs like 5/6 different lubricants, so it's stuff for watchmakers See here: https://secure.eta.ch/csp/DefaultDesktop.aspx then select Technical Documents on the top, then search for 7750 in the caliber drop down menu, and check the technical communication document
  8. Thanks Didn't do anything, judge by your own here on this perfectly vertical pic:
  9. Uh? Here my personal updated list (take care: some are TD on this forum, some on RWG.bz forum, some are gen watches grey market seller). Some are missing, some others like Sead you can contact only through mail or PMs http://www.ttw888.com/ - TrustyTime http://www.torobravos2014.com/ - ToroBravo http://www.pf-818.com/index.php - PerfectClones http://intime.co/ - Ryan http://www.pure-time.com/ - Angus http://www.tr88watch.com/ - Trevor http://watchfinder.phanfare.com/2014/ - Tim/FatPanda http://www.creationwatches.com/ - Grey market gens http://www.longislandwatch.com/ - Grey market gens http://www.silix-prime.co/ - Silix http://www.kuvarsit.com/ - KW http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=4553 - Narikaa http://helenarou.com/ - kept mainly for parts http://www.aootime.com/ - from RWG.bz
  10. The watch, in normal working situation, should present only 2 noises: the "tiktiktiktik" which is the balance going back and forth, and eventually the rotor. To get if the rotor is the one making the noise, just take the watch out, keep it vertical in front of you with the case back turned to your face, and move it in an ondulatory movement to make the rotor spinning. You'll get if it is the noisy stuff.
  11. Great work! Matt, will you ever start to do some DJ/DD II ?
  12. At least you've to open its case back and post here some pictures of the movement (with counterweight in various positions to see below), otherwise we can't manage to help you... You'll need probably a new stem for Valjoux 7750, a stem extender and a crown. A stem is about 5$, an extender is about 2$, and the crown will be around 50$. Providing that it will fit the tube thread and that the keyless parts inside the movement are not messed up (I'd check them carefully: the crown and stem shouldn't just "pop out" that way!), put the upper costs together and add a good 150$ for the service. If I was you I'd go for a new one (i.e.: http://www.torobravos2014.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=25_32&product_id=745 )...
  13. Yep, here: http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=11024 Agree again with CJ. Make it being serviced and regulated and it will work just perfectly
  14. Just quoting Ceejay: the Swiss 7750 is expensive (around 200€ or more) but is better. Anyway you won't find it in the reps. And buying a rep containing an asian version and then swap it with the gen isn't an easy option, since the hands will not fit (so at least you've to add the cost of gen hands to the movement). A good option is to make the asian version to be serviced: it's around 135€ and it will run much smoothly after. 36kBPH in reps? Not that sensitive: just few watches have a movement like that (see Zenit El Primero and some Seiko 9S series movements like the 9S85 -> http://www.seikowatches.com/support/ib/pdf/SEIKO_9S.pdf ) and theoretically the reps should be as much similar to the gens as it can be (even the 28.8kBPH are wrong in some watches like the AP's RO, that beat at 21.6kBPH)
  15. So I decided to do something about it. 1st: remove all the paint! With a sharpened 0.8 screwdriver and a syringe needle i removed most of the paint, then with nitro thinner I finished: 2nd: prepare a color that resemble the gen. I had some synthetic silver enamel at home. Too light... So I mixed it with some black enamel to get a more similar color. Then with an oiler I applied it. Note this is the 1st attempt. Since the final result is not exactly as sharp as I'd have accepted, I'll redo again the process. 3rd: wait the enamel to dry, and remove the excess with a hard rag, poured with some nitro thinner: Most probably I'll redo the task, as I'm not fully satisfied. But it's something feasible
  16. So, here we are. Got this nice piece and noticed how the carved logo is too white respect to the gen. Here is the gen vs rep comparison:
  17. Hi guys, eBay is plenty of them, and they're quite cheap (like 15€ each or less)
  18. If you mean to change also the full regulation system and also to unassemble the movement to replace the antishock system on the other end of balance arbor, it may have a sense. In my opinion it's not worth...
  19. Respect to the dealer!!! Not sure if disclosing his name should be a good thing for him (for sure a gain in his job, but maybe also others asking for customs...)
