  1. Well done guys! Nice to see you back up
  2. That's awesome! By 'in the ocean' you mean you were swimming with it?
  3. Guys I have ordered a PAM382 Bronzo. I am really looking forward to this watch :-). I really like the aged look of a Bronzo (green tinge on the bronze) and would like to do this as well as perhaps the (depending on how difficult this is ) the dial and hands.. Living in South Africa to ship this to one of the masters on this forum to do the ageing would cost a packet and be risky from a customs point of view I have a guy who can dissemble and put the watch back together again for me. Can you guys give me any information/instruction/suggestions/warnings etc etc?? :-) on how best to get an aged look on the Bronzo? I have searched the forums and come up with very little - apologies if I have missed a thread that deals with this Thanks for your help Cheers Paul
  4. I am guessing this won't work with a ceramic insert?
  5. Agreed! Heat wave forecast for today in South Africa.
  6. Indeed a true sad case. The frog is a self appointed 'fake' watch policeman! He cannot help coming here to berate us. It must be extremely frustrating. What you gonna do frog? Lock us all up? ROTFLMAO. I Love Reps !
  7. That's amazing. How much do they weigh?
  8. This is exactly one of the reasons I love reps so much. The true value of these high end brands are closer to the rep price then the gen price. The price is artificially inflated ( just like the oil price was - controlled by cartels and monopolies) As nice as a gen is it's just not worth the price. Agree with beachcomber that it is supply and demand - this world is gone crazy. I hope reps get better and better. If you get e super rep with a good movement that can last years and years - that is very satisfying to me. The high prices of gens makes the brands seem somewhat pretentious which is a pity because they are good quality and have great design and history. In some respects wearing a good rep feels way better to me than wearing a gen ( I am probably in the minority here but it gives me a real kick) I also feels rocks to tell someone if they ask. Long live reps! +1 on Panarai153 comments too!
  9. Wow. Seriously ? Don't know how a rep will help. 99.999% won't be able to tell the difference. I would suggest you buy a cheapie or no name brand. Don't wear your gen in dangerous places is what I would advise
  10. Hi All. A big punt goes to Tony from www.asian7750.com. He is offered to refund 50% of the value of the watch. This is an unbelievable gesture as the watch went 'missing' while in the custody of the post office. Certainly no fault of his own. I get the sense that Tony is not the biggest TD around which makes this even more impressive. What an honorable man! Can't recommend these guys highly enough. Cheers!
  11. Interesting article. He does raise some valid points IMHO. Not familiar with his musical ability though . Sure agree IWC missed a trick with Keith Richards
  12. So true. Who wants to retire ? I mean seriously? What are you going to do. As long as you have your health and a bit of energy why stop? Hopefully you will be at a stage where you can chose what you want to do but let's not stop. Often hear of stories where the man who has a bit of responsibility and authority at work retires goes home to the wife and the dog. The wife is the boss and the dog doesn't listen. And in 5 years he's dead. As they say why do men die before there wives? Because they want too :-) Jokes aside interesting the depth of the discussion of this thread
  13. +1 legend! Could not have said it better myself
  14. Apologies I guess the correct nomenclature would be 'pinned'?
  15. Please bear with me, a lot of educated guesses here So having ordered a few reps from the TDs was intrigued to see the order numbers. Assuming these are consecutive my order number 50515 would mean that thats the number of watches sold by that TD to date. If the average price for a watch was say $200 that's $10m in sales to date. Some TDs order numbers are around the 70k mark so more like $14m to date I am guessing that there are 15 to 20 TD across all the rep forums. Let's say 15 TD at an average of $10m per TD. So that's $150m in sales to date. Not sure how long the TDs have been around but if it's 10 years then average total annual sales in this market is $15m Unknown factors that would be interesting to know 1) what are the TDs mark up%. If it's 30% and based on the above would mean $300k in his pocket or $25k per month (less expenses) 2) what other channel they distribute through to get to there order numbers, ie what % of there sales are generated by forums I am sure that the total replica market (Esp the cheap rubbish) world wide is much bigger than this but just thinking of our TDs Anyway just glad to be doing my part in job creation in China!
  16. Shocking shocking. Terrible news. Perilous times indeed
  17. On this side my very generalized opinion More successful older guys wear Rolex as they can afford them. Young guys who have a Rolex always give me the impression that they more born with a silver spoon in there mouth (bully for them I say). Younger affluent crowd - tags and omegas are very popular. Panarai - big dudes with muscles :-) No offense to anyone I hope :-)
  18. Gentlemen I have not been a member here long. I hope it would not be out of place to ask. Would the admin/mods consider turning this thread into a sticky? Reading this really touches me deeply and is a testament to this forum and I believe sticky would stand as a small memorial to our brother Cats. I like to think his son may stumble upon it one day! Best Paul
