This place is so Watch-centric....and O so boring........
P4GTR replied to hiker01's topic in Bits, bytes & babes
I'd pet everything in this thread so far. -
The watch is very heavy. It feels, like a gen. There's no other way to put it. I've held both recently, and theres no difference. Once you give the bracelet some TLC it is excellent. The watch looks fantastic on both bracelet and leather, with its classic handsomeness. 21j would defeat the purpose for me at least. The skyland was my favorite watch. Now that I own this Carrera it's a hard choice. Can't go wrong with either. Thanks everyone!

Review TAG Carrera Day/Date After recently selling my gen Calibre6, I had to update the watchbox to show some TAG representation. A visit to the AD to see the Carrera oversized 43mm Day/Date wound up making me loony in love. I made a b-line back home to get one on its way to me from one of our trusted dealers. After probably driving Mary nuts, this came to me. The watch is extremely close to gen. Two things stand out from the gen counterpart. The tip of the G in TAG is flat instead of arrow headed on the dial emblem, and the screws in the movement are blued on the rep. Personally, I like the blue screws, and the emblem doesn't bother me. These are so minor, the only people that would ever be able to call this watch out, have a membership here. If you were inclined, you could hunt down a replacement emblem on ebay, they pop up from time to time, and the screws can be replaced with chrome non-blued versions at service time. Nice! The fit and finish is remarkable. All of the numbers on my dial are perfectly lined up. The day/date wheel lines up perfect. My chrono needles all line up perfectly, straighter than the gen needles were on the watch at the AD! I've had a lot of PM's since this review, asking what to watch out for on the reps, QC wise. I urge you to purchase this from a dealer that will send photos of the exact watch you will receive, and look at these key areas in particular. Here is a list of the common variety of problems I've seen on some of these reps: - Crooked numbers on the hour markers. The 1 in the "15" at the 3 '0 clock position is notoriously crooked, for example. - The AR being too light in hue. Gen has a deep blue AR, typical TAG Heuer hue. Some reps are coming with weak AR. - Small chips in the paint around the subdials. - Poor day and date alignment. - Chrono and subdial needles set exactly to 0. - Micro-adjust lever should not be missing from the balance bridge. I've seen this on a few. Moving on... The bracelet is sharp and needs a little tune up, but the markings are craftsmanship are excellent. I wet sanded the inner surface edges, than used my bracelet rattle fix which gave the bracelet a soft satin-like fit and finish. I can't believe its not gen. The pins in the bracelet were easy, which made resizing it the same. End links are decent, an excellent fit between the lugs, however gen end links are a little flatter on the little polished center areas, the reps are a little round and puffy. You could sand these or buy gen endlinks for about $80 if you were inclined. I think for the savings, I will sand them flat then re-polish them, since the fit and finish is otherwise excellent. Minute details, but I want to point out everything no matter how big or small. Again, it is all in the details. The inner surface of this last bracelet link was unfinished and rough looking. I took a moment to sand and polish it to a more gen like finish. Lovely AR. The gen has strong blue AR, the rep looks spot on. Beautiful watch. Perfect size for just about anything. This thing has presence. Crown and pushers reproduced with the highest quality. Awesome feature, the ability to admire the beautiful 7750 movement. Rotor is correct to gen. Black leather strap with rep Deployant. *It was 11:30PM, so the date had begun to roll over. It is not an alignment problem. I haven't found any aftermarket straps that are as nice as the gen TAG versions. I would recommend purchasing the TAG leather strap (~$100), to go with the rep buckle. This strap pictured, is from Tango252 on Ebay. I found it way too thin, it slips out of the deployant catch. Wears very comfortable. Nice height due to a perfect case thickness. 43mm feels just right on my ~7" wrist. The watch looks larger than 43mm due to the oversized dial/crystal against a less thick bezel.

Gen. Not when I was done with the pearl on my old SMP

I'm not a huge fan of white dials, but I am a fan of Skylands! Man thats a sexy watch. Whew! I haven't a clue why they didn't rep it.I dont think they expected as much interest in the skyland as they got. Therefore maybe less choice in dial colors were offered?

A little late, my apologies, but never the less... Very glad you are on the mend, and wishing you the best. -Daniel -
So far, only my wife... But hey, it's only been 20min EST worth of time to wear anything. Edit: and no, it wasnt my wrist. When I wake up I'll probably be going with one of my prized watches, gifted from an RWG great- Ubi!

P4GTR replied to Samurai's topic in General Discussion
never desperately spend $6K. Slow your roll daddy-o. Im sure it would be a great surprise for your wife, however i'm sure shes not expecting a $15K watch for her birthday. Id love to help you out but thats way too rich for my blood. Sounds too good to be true. -
But now the movement doesnt say Tudor. I thought thats what our whole world was about in the grand scheme!

Anyone else have the longest break between cartel orders ever?
P4GTR replied to chad's topic in General Discussion
Hey, for sure I do enjoy some sprucing up, and tinkering, but im no watchsmith. I can't rebuild or mod a DOA 7750 movement, or mod a bezel thats missing screws on arrival. I also can't afford gen parts! -

P4GTR replied to chad's topic in General Discussion
were the pain in the ass of the rep world. granted, I am about one watch away from throwing in the towel as far as buying and returning $300+ DOA's. That scene is dead to me. -
I see allergydoc browsing this thread. Expatriot ass.

Very true Zig. I definitely find myself being more focused. Reorganizing. It took a couple of years worth of experimenting to find out mylikes and dislikes though. (imagine if they were all gens? Oi vey!) Id rather have a handful of really nice, maintained, pieces, than a watchbox stuffed full of pieces I might not ever wear. Thanks for all the replies. They all seem to carry the same message. The team here is a true success story, a round of applause for you guys! I am glad to see my E-neighbors come around for a little discussion about the neighborhood. Trying to stand by my convictions, I just placed an order with one of our trusted sellers, Mary (watchinternational). Trying out someone new here on RWG that i've never talked to before, instead of venturing too far off.. This is home, afterall. No offense RWI, you just never forget your first love. It's the least I can do after stirring up the pot. I think we all needed to hear this though, and I hope people enjoyed what they heard.

The admin team pinned a topic "So you want to be a dealer" at the entry to this general discussion subforum. If you haven't read it, I think you will find it very informative. Here-

T's post about the traffic numbers on RG being shady has had me thinking. Whatever the case may be, RWI/RG are much busier lately. Not a lot happening here. So my question is, where the hell is everyone? And why? Love our admin but are you guys into reps at all anymore? We've got trailboss running RWI now, and offshore has some good dealings in GZ for tools. What are we doing? what about Kenberg? Is there anyone that can finds us some more... Trusted dealers: Theres a lot of trusted dealers doing well on other sites. Is it possible we can find some new blood? You've got T4D posting great deals every few days on RWI, and a few others that are doing really well at what they do. Whats the position of RWG2 on this situation? The issues with a couple of ours dealers not allowing competition, or scaring them away from participating? Send em packing! Everyones doing fine without them. They have every means available to them, more than any. Why not tighten up and stop sending premium priced DOA's? I'd like to see some new blood, and probationary status's, QC requirements, etc. Especially if dropshipping is going to continue. Ease of rep trading between members: Members here have to upgrade to trade/sell watches, whereas they do not on the other two. Trading, brings traffic, which brings banter and community. I want banter and discussion. If that means free watch trading, why not? Forum software: My work PC displays this site very erratically, hides much of the functionality when posting. Say what you will but the search function simply does not work as well as it once did. Others have problems accessing this site as well. Much of the traffic is weekdays at work, where users are forced to run IE. I dont see many many familiar faces anymore. Hell even Lanikai's gone, which accounted for 50% of the traffic. I'm just standing in the driveway of one of my favorite E-homes and wondering what the hell happened to the neighborhood. I'm glad to be a part of many communities, but I started here, and just wanted to get some thoughts out in the air. All due respect, as I consider those who run this place excellent people of character and even friends. Nothing I wouldn't humbly ask in person to any of you if I had the chance. I myself have been around less, and before I vanish with a *poof* like so many others seem to have, I wanted to open up some dialog.

Thats Trevors $225 V5. Thats my guess. I say this because I've been eyeing that watch on trevors site. Trevors a trusted dealer on RWI, if you want to see the watch im talking about heres the link. Looks pretty good to me, as does Fenders new one. Nice sheen, for sure! http://www.trevortime.info/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=33&osCsid=u5d1rm76l2ibabclqdvo8s8f33
