  1. Stub a finger on a crystal you thought wasnt there? Out of sheer curiousity, something makes me want to see a non-date sub or SD with AR, assuming the date mag would be an issue.
  2. A sea-dweller never going on a dive.. is that like owning an Enzo that will never see a track? A lion in a zoo? Dive watches are built to take a beating in general. Does the average Rolex owner use their watch in any industrial fashion? Hell no! Its the fact that they could. We all look for that potential in some way, shape, or form. I'm licensed to dive. Not that it makes a difference, it's still just one mans opinion, just like that guy.

    Noob Sub

Are you asking who has the best noobsub?
  4. Realistically, right this second- I don't even know where to get the $25 replacement asian movement your talking about, who makes it, what model to request, or how to install it. Now figure, as into reps as I am, as much as I read these boards, the amount of knowledge to keep up with is still infinate. Look how much I don't know. Genuine ETA's take a lot of the guesswork out for someone like me, and at least they used to be, worth the additional premium to have the ability to take it to joe blow watchsmith and say "here, fix it". God bless The Zigmeister ten times over, but we can't rely solely on him forever. He could decide to drop everything, and become an astronaut tomorrow (or a home renovator?! ) and theres not a d@mn thing anyone of us can do about it. I still have a lot to learn. You basically have to be a novice watchsmith to run in this circle, or at least run in the right direction.
  5. I just want to be able to service my watches as time go's on. Plain and simple. This is why I choose ETA as often as I can. If i'm spending $350-$500 on a watch, rep or not, what good is it if I cannot fix it when it breaks? Game, set, match. If I cannot service the watch, it is completely useless to me and as such I will stop purchasing them- as Im sure many of you will as well. Dealers take note.

    bezel parts

Awesome. Works like a charm now Rod. Also, a little bending go's a long way. I had to pull the bezel and loosen the octagonal spring up a bit after my initial attempt. It feels really nice now. Rod you are... the Bezelmaster.
  7. -post a few pictures of the watch, we like that a lot around here. -take it to "fast fix" or one of those jewlery/watch repair stores in the mall and have them give it a waterproof test ($10-$20). Ask them if they will lube the seals for you, possibly on the house, since your paying for the test. -make sure the caseback is tight. Many arrive loose. = NOT waterproof! -Be careful with the threads when screwing the crown. Put a TINY dash of silicon, or even WD40 (like half a drop!) on a cotton swab and sweep clean the threads of the crown tube, it will probably be filthy and have metal filings in it. - (like TT said..) Dont worry about the sticker. They wear off. It's not a "tell", just yank the thing off. -the polished gold is going to get scratched a bit, theres nothing you can do about it. I like your idea of getting a SS newb to switch on and off with, probably a good idea. welcome, and grats on the new watch- enjoy!
  8. I don't blame the youth. As adults we know its too difficult for the majority of teens to make all of lifes choices by the age of 18, yet we force them to do it anyways. I guess "someones gotta pour the concrete, serve the fries, etc". Its rediculous.
  9. Who's going to be the first to need a tetnis shot when the rep version drops and they tried to mod it? You're not even a serious rep collector until your wearing your rep SSD or SFSO whilst commissioning a dive to retrieve a hefty chunk of rusted steel from the titanic, in order to get gen bezels made for the titanic reps.
  10. That looks really nice Where and how much?
  11. Looking good! Who'd you go with for that?
  12. Because Home Depot isn't a huge corperate megalogiant either right? I say you should revise your plans to make it you and the guys at Ted's Tool store. Oh, wait, Home Depot put them out of business last week, after Home Depot was bought out by a mid-eastern firm. .. I kid. None of that is true, kinda.
  13. Excellent, I'll give that a try. Thanks guys.
  14. Lan the man. I wish I had a story for you, but my avitar is simply my girlfriends boobs.
  15. my strapculture has been rubbing against the case, you can see the wear. I think that the spot where the wear is occuring got wet at one time or another, which concerns me that its permanent damage. Can anyone give me some tips on how to care for this issue? Comments greatly appreciated!

    LV Sub

That looks awesome, the hard work paid off! Drives me crazy that the etched crown at 6 is such an easy tell after everything people do..

    bezel parts

Sir-Lancelot, I did tighten the spring that drives the pellet. It doesnt tighten the rotation of the bezel, it still spins very easily, he's talking about the hex spring that lines the inside of the bezel itself. Rod, I guess in few words, tweak the hex spring how? If I overlooked this in a search, do forgive!

    bezel parts

I am happy to report the parts arrived safe and sound and my sub is fixed! I had my spring left so I used it, in combination with the replacement pellet from Rod. 120 clicks, enough said! Its no tighter then it was before, even after improving the tension of the spring. I now believe this is due to the way the teeth are shaped on the underbezel. I tried one of the springs Rod sent but it was a little too thick for the hole. That could be easily corrected, but since I had a working spring I didn't fiddle with it. Also, there were a variety of springs in the bag, most likely if I had chose another, it would've fit just fine, but I needn't bother. The workmanship of the pellet is excellent as well. Rod, you are a true gentleman sir! Sir-L, since tomorrow is Sunday, the parts will go out to you with Mondays mail. If anyone needs a replacement, theres leftovers. Thanks again Rod
  19. Then I have no idea! Sorry, wish I could be more help man.
  20. I'll celebrate with a toast tonight! Though, not because of your accomplishment, moreso just because I like to drink.
  21. does it keep accurate time for the 4-5 hours?
  22. Its like they have no idea how to improve upon the designs that worked well for them in the past.
