  1. Well , based on Mikes last reply I'm fed up with him. I always considered him as a friend and colleague but after this mess I'm done with him and aded him to my ignore list.

    When Mike first became a member and started posting I was really enthusiastic. Watch technicians are scarce so I tried to motivate him to participate and get involved. We regularly exchanged PM's and in all honesty most of the time he was in quest for parts or wanted technical info on movements. I warned him not to take on too much work but this thread clearly portraits he walked his own path....

    I personally don't think Mike has a lot of knowledge about movements.... Or at least his learning curve is still pretty steep. I remember one of his first posts in which he mentioned the tilting pinion on the a7750 being a big problem (Not! Maybe 1 in a 100).

    Then some weeks ago, when this sh!t storm just started, he shot me a PM because he was having problems installing a brand new gen Rolex 3135 balance. Gave him some tips and off he went. Then some days later the owner, a member here (can't remember his name) emails me with the question if I can fix his gen Rolex 3135 as Mike messed up the balance.....

    So the moral of this story, in my opinion, is that this guy knows some basic watch making but is far from a good watch technician. When problems or challenges arise he faults. His rant about it being "just reps" proofs this. It is a weak excuse from someone that just can not manage. For all those that are currently waiting for watches/ parts or were returned a non-working watch I have one advice: Leave appropriate feed back!

  2. Yes , the tilting pinion is a pain! Good job on getting it back together but too bad it isn't running... If the watch does not run wheter the chrono is on or off there is a big chance the tilting pinion is not seated correctly. The tilting pinion picks up the power from the gear train and transports it to the chrono second hand.

  3. As a watchmaker on this board I can provide some insights in how we work. No watchmaker (who is in his right mind) will ever accept 100 watches for repair, service or whatever in one single time frame. On average we are talking about 20-30 watches at a time for watchmakers who do this for a living. And let me tell you that those numbers are already very difficult to handle for one man. I myself work on 5 watches at a time max. as I also have a day time job. And yes, it requires extensive project management skills and excell sheets to keep everything aligned. The actual watchmaking only takes place on 2-3 watches at a time because you just can't take apart 20-30 let alone 100 watches.... Where do you put all the parts? No, depending on what needs to be done you switch between those 2-3 watches. Waiting on parts for one movement? You start taking apart movement number two or pressure testing watch number three, etc.... The rest of the watches are waiting in que: untouched! At least that is how it is supposed to be done.

I know the communication was fu&$ed on my part and that was my fault, plus i switched and bought a new computer that runs on windows 7? or is 8? i odont know and im not sure if any of my personal emails are going out or comming in. I should have stayed with my mac. I didnt have my computer with me and the internet wont work on my pos phone so i was really screwed plus my head wasnt in the mind frame of hey i need to let the guys know whats going on, i was so shocked i was left with the estate stuff i coldnt believe it. I hope no one has to take care of things like i had to in the near future because its a hell of a emotional roller coster. I agree 100% and like i said Everythings been taken care of now and life will slowly get back to the normal with watches comming in and out like it was Micky Ds

    Mike I consider you as a friend and a good watchmaker and honestly I don't have a worry in my body that you won't come through but stop with all the excuses and meaningless side stories. People have their 'babies' with you!

    Forget watchmaking for 2 hours, step up and call/ email ALL your clients and give them a status update. Let them know when their watch is scheduled according to your new time frame and give them an option: wait or send the watch back. If you do that today this whole nightmare will be over tomorrow. Just my 0.002.
