It was asked before, and Admin replied that when we upgraded, the anonymiser went kaputnik. He didn't exactly say if and when it would return. I think it's invaluable and really basic to have one here, so if he's reading please reinstall it? Here is an anecdote about my interest in military watches: Once visited a friend of mine, and her USAF husband in Pensacola, where he was being trained as a future F-16 or F-15 pilot (I'm sorry, he did tell me the correct plane model, but I can't recall. I do know either the 16/15 is a USN-only plane though. I forget which), despite it being a US Navy base. To my astonishment, there were several foreign personnel being trained there, and I met Saudi, German et. al. pilots galore. The Saudis kept to themselves, and seemed very ill-at-ease with women in general, but the other nationals were friendly enough. Some were actually quite flirtatious. Then, a party of aviators (naval-only term) took me out to an Irish pub which is famous all over the FL Panhandle and military community, apparently. That's when I realised that ALL the guys had on exactly the same watches. The US-ones had one which I will never forget, but whose marque I stupidly forgot to ask. It was like a Casio G-Shock, but much more intricate. One guy even explained they were Mach Force resistant (as can be imagined), but they didn't seem very forthcoming with info, perhaps because it was sensitive for civilians??, so I didn't press the topic. Ever since, I've wanted to know which watch that was. My friend's husband did take me to his local PX. An enormous cavern of a place, like a mini-Walmart. Dead cheap cigarettes, and yes, a few watches, but nothing like a Rolex.

Perfect!! But the first forum thread my eyes scroll to says, "Yuck, fake Vietnamese IWC being peddled from US now". Fleecebay Item: 230173925943 So, they're not rep watch friendly...still, great find, TMG! Gold star for you!

Ooh! I Google Imaged Rolex 5517 (not being a Rolex person and didn't know the model), and came upon this great link: http://www.50717.com/misc/london-2001-01.html "London Military Watch Scene" A pictorial and review post on all the London shops selling military watches. FAINT! "Be sure to visit Portobello and Gray's Antique Market for military watches in London!" And can you imagine Rolexes being sold at one's PX back when? Are they still?? *reads* & *thanks*

All this talk of NATO straps, and PVD/kevlar, plus my love of Panerai reminded I've always meant to ask this: 1) Is there a SPECIFIC site where I might find which watches are assigned to which military units around the world? You know, NAVY SEALS, Commandos, aviators, etc. of any or every country. 2) I already came across this magnificent blogpost on the "Watches of War": http://watchismo.blogspot.com/2007/02/wris...rilles-and.html "When German Emperor Wilhelm I visited the Berlin Trade Fair and saw some experimental wrist watches made by Girard-Perregaux of La Chaux de Fonds in Switzerland. He gave an order for 1,000 of these for the German Imperial Navy, and as many as 2,000 such wristwatches were delivered in 1880. This began to change in the nineteenth century when watches were first used to co-ordinate military operations. Pocket watches were awkward to use in combat situations; under a great-coat, on horseback, or under fire, and so military men began fitting pocket watches into cups on specially made leather straps, or asking manufacturers to fit them with chains or straps, so that they could be worn on the wrist." I never knew that! And he's one of my speciality subjects... Here are some funky examples of these older military watches: 1917 trench watch WWI official German Army-issued Jaeger LeCoultre WWI official RAF-issue watch (well, it wasn't called the RAF until 1918) And US-company Hamilton watch ad from WWII (Hmm, Pennsylvania was once abbreviated not just as "PA" but "Penna", cool!)

Too fussy! At the outside, the Clinton PAM 089. Also, no go on the Arktos and monsters like that, IMHO. They're great sport watches, but not office watches. EDIT: Hmm, the more I think about it, the more I think the 082 Amerigo Vespucci recently showed by Maxmillian, might be a good future purchase! http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=50479 Check out Maxi's photo, Khumzi (hope he won't mind):

Never think that, wjlamp! It's either that your thread got lost in the floods of posts we've been getting lately (every day, I wake up to about 100 new posts, wow), or as you rightly suspect in this case, there are few Radiomir owners as compared to Luminor ones. I have 3 Radiomirs. I can only wear one, the base 210, since the others have stripped lugs -- including my beloved Blackseal, PAM 183. That's me wearing it in happier days -- on a OF Mario Paci waterproof cognac. I wore it exactly twice... Anyway, the thing is, your question is a bit basic. Not that it's ever stopped people from responding before, but typing (with inverted commas) "Black Seal" or "blackseal" in Search might've given you more answers, as you waited. Here is a good thread by Fishgodeep about his PAM 183g: http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showto...p;hl=black+seal And don't forget, 50% other forum special on the Pacis right now!

I have my car dial permanently set to KISS country FM, baby!! I'm sure JFreeman does too. P.S.: My current favourite song is Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman". My favourite song of ALL time is "Coal Miner's Daughter" by the inestimable Loretta Lynn.

But the point is, I should be predisposed to liking something better if that's the case. Hence my love of Country & Western music. Took me a while to come to like it, since neither parent listens to it, but I got tired of the insipidness of rap, and the boy bands of my youth (save BROS!). At least you SING in country music... Yum!

Oh, it defines you, it defines you...remember all those Stanford-Binet tests your mum gave you as a child, because you were her guinea pig? How about talking into a portable recorder, as she observed you in play? How about that time she allowed you to fill out her patients' info unto the word processor, though you were only 12, and you found out what "hypnagogic hallucinations" were? Come on, you know this happened to you, Pugwash! PAM 183 I see more on Cardiologists. The 232 is clearly for Dermatologists only.

You're right. It's not LIKE ME at all. But haven't you ever appreciated, liked or felt affection for people or things COMPLETELY unlike you or that you disagreed with? 'Cause I do all the time, else this world would be more difficult to live in, than it is. One time, I had a boyfriend who was from Kentucky. It wasn't serious, but I liked him enough to visit him in Louisville, near where he grew up. But he just wouldn't let me meet his "mommy" (apparently, everyone there calls their mum that, even if they're 60 years old). I said, come on, family = important, what are you ashamed of me? Turns out he was ashamed, well not of his mommy, but of his trailer park homestead. I broke him down, I went, stepped inside, and was perfectly at home. His mother was nervous, but guess what? As a young girl had backpacked all over Europe -- hippie girl that she was then. We had A LOT to talk about. P.S.: Your 'average' NASCAR fan is not anything like you said s/he was above, of course. I'm sure you meant it to amuse, but I can't let that comment pass by without a challenge! Especially when you are allowed to leave school in our country at the age of 16 without going to higher-education, not like High School graduates here, who are therefore able to enter University, and who are usually 18. As for University graduates, well... (Cultural note for foreigners: "College" in the US usually means "University". In the UK, it's different)

Deal with it! And do as Sssurfer says. Man, that guy knows women. Err, quite. My mother usually wears an enormous amount of jewelry on her person, you know, a bit like old Queen Mary (that would be she to the left, BTW...). Anyhoodle, the thing is when she was with patients she would always take off all her jewels, watches, and bling, save one piece, and a demure watch. It was apparently intimidating otherwise, since many patients did comment that they kept concentrating on her jewels, instead of on their reminiscences. I just don't want you to be the male equivalent, though you can't go far wrong with either the PAM 111 or 117 (maybe the destro might be quirky enough to act as an ice-breaker). EXCELLENT CHOICES!! Movement...well, it depends really. Both will run. The question is for how long, and are you the kind of person who might be terribly embarrassed if someone around you finds out it's a rep? That's why I order my PAMs from Davidsen now, and would with TWP in Swiss version only.

Ahem, as I said, "other forums". Don't know if this is kosher, but check here below (it's the same post, but the first requires no registration to read): http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=3512 http://replica-watch.info/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32091 The owner of Timeconnection.biz didn't put an end date to the 50% off special. However, he did this ONCE, for USA Labour Day, and it lasted all the way through Monday. I'm guessing, GUESSING mind, that it will last the weekend. But once it's over, it's no use he said, to email him asking for an extension, so if you will buy, buy it tonight! Good luck. PM (though my Inbox is at 99%...) in case of need.

Do we ALL have friends in the small town of Haugesund? This is crazy.

To understand all, is to forgive all or as the French say, "tout comprendre c'est tout pardonner". Unfortunately, I do not understand at all.

Somewhere out there, Highflyingclive just had a sudden case of tachychardia, and ran to check his watch case.

Welcome, Juanjulio!! All newcomers who introduce themselves are special, and I'm glad you didn't do so before your 1000th post, like some people I could mention (STEPHANE). ...and obviously, me. I'm glad you had the courage to step up to the plate, and say, hey, I'm here, I like your place, I'm going to contribute the best I can. It seems you are following the same precepts of courage, service, and honour in your professional life too, so thanks for that enormously all around. Best of luck, and God bless.

When he told me he had a Sub, I asked, "Footlong and white?". He replied, "Yeah, with lots of bling".

One would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to notice that one board is going down, as this one reaches dizzier heights. Maybe it's temporary, and as I echoed EXACTLY what you said, TWP, that whilst this board is more cosmopolitan, all forums offer their own positives. But yeah, as we speak, another forum is down. I go there less and less. It's a shame, but inevitable perhaps. This is where the fun is at, at least for now! BTW, newbies, fill out your locations, please. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?autocom=gmap (Jeez, look at us in the State of Florida. I'm practically sitting on JFreeman's lap!)

FRIDAY Maxmilian bought the little-known Toscana Vacchetta in Amber, and wanted to see how it would look like on his blue-faced PAM. Here I am showing him the same strap, on my versatile PAM 177h. Liked the look so much, I'll wear it Friday. The Toscanas are beautifully-made straps. Thing is, I have almost all of them, so waiting for Daily Specials I can buy, sucks! SATURDAY Remember this? Some of your retinas are still recovering... For the record, I'd like to apologise to all the Paneristi on these boards for having inflicted this choice of strap on such a watch. Now THAT'S more like it! Manifatture Firenze's Hammered brown calf leather strap with brown stitch. The grain is so gorgeous, and soft...yum. Honour the Fiddy and 217, if you wear it, people. SUNDAY As you know, this week was hard for my family. We're getting back, but I'm still not at 100%. So on Sunday, I'm going to church, to give thanks for our blessings, whilst wearing this fun watch with baby blue grosgrain D-ring strap. The Lord doesn't need to be impressed by my watches. He's cool.

I will let the poll run until Friday, 11:59 PM EDT. It's tight! THE SENAPE! You won't regret it. I have heard good things about the Submercitore, but I stay away from it since I consider it (like the Natale) a TOUCH too masculine for me. Thanks, AA1! He's sleeping soundly in his own bed tonight, surrounded by his family. God has granted us another extension...anyway, thanks baby.

Guys, sorry to revive an old post, but a question: I bought this NATO "Zulu" G10 strap for my 24mm PAMs -- 2 rings. But I noticed that Predsfan has this one, with 4 rings. Which is better, looks better, or is authentically a "G10" strap? Or can they all be called Zulu, NATO, or G10 straps, it just depends on design? EDIT: Please note that of course, I read Timepiece's historical redaction, and By-Tor's followup quoted by TP. Also, I learnt how to fit these straps, with 3 rings, in this handy guide by Puggy. (Just in case any newbies are around reading this for the first time). What I mean is, on Fleabay, there seems to be no one term for ONE specific kind -- but are all used to describe all versions. I planned to wear this with my PAM 076, the "maiale" engraved watch, or the PAM Lion Purdey. I think I prefer the one with 4 rings, so I'm off to order another on Fleecebay.
