My PM box filled up overnight with offers to buy my 3717, which were summarily rejected.
So if you're contacting me about something else, go ahead and PM me now. I've cleaned out the box.
It was dark when I got home this evening, which figured to be a great opportunity for a lume shot or two... Well, what better to take a lume shot of than the fresh-from-The Zigmeister 3717 that will be gracing me with its presence on my wrist all week...
@mezz - Yes it's one of the earlier EL models. I agree with you, and I just didn't "get it" with the popularity of this model early on but now I'm glad I didn't miss the boat completely. And as you say, the AR does make the watch. I liked it before the DAR, but I LOVE it after the DAR. Once you've got DAR on this one and the dial is so crisp and clear, those thick rep markers have definitely got to go. They really stuck out like a sore thumb until The Zigmeister worked his magic.
@mezz - Actually I came on board late with 3717. I bought it unmodded from Martyd only a few months back, not so sure at that time that I was going to like it. I had never been sold on this one, but I'll tell you this: seeing is believing. And it was immediately clear that this one had to be done right because it's definitely a keeper. Easily one of my favorites now.
The 3717 for the rest of the week.... Just arrived from The Zigmeister with a new Swiss ETA 7750, dial and hands SL, and of course chieftang double AR. I love it.
Just a quick and dirty snapshot here. No fancy light tents or what have yous....
IWC 3717 originally from EL. Modded with The Zigmeister super lume on dial and hands - including removal of the thick markers and creating new flat top SL markers at 3,6,9,12 by hand, chieftang AR, and Swiss ETA 7750 from ajoesmith transplanted by The Zigmeister to top it off.
I'm ecstatic!
Lume shot:
Mine arrived today, and I don't have time for pics right now, but WOW. What a job The Zigmeister did on the markers. Thick markers are a thing of the past!
The bummer about this is that throwing on a strap for an occasional change of pace is just not going to happen. Once I switch to a strap, I'm never going to want to deal with the bracelet again!!
I agree. I played with it for about 5 minutes before sending off to The Zigmeister with endlinks attached!! I'll play with it some more when it returns, but it was very stubborn.
Yes the sub dial hands are lumed on the gen, minus the red one I believe. avb - it looks great. I recognize that AR.
This watch has been a long time coming for avb, as I believe there was a previous AR remnant on the crystal that was coated over the first time, so we had to strip it all off and coat it again. So now it's time to enjoy this one!!!
