  1. I may have a Ingy crystal with my AR on it lying around, if you wanted to do a swap + cash. It's for the original EL model, though. So I'd have to verify that it fits your watch first.
  2. Nicely done, and thanks for sharing. The new dial will bump it up another notch!
  3. I just happened to catch this show last night as I was in the mood for some much needed couch potato time.... and I have to say I'd probably watch it again. I found it fairly amusing and interesting. A guy came in with a medallion said to be made for George Washington's memorial service. There was a picture of GW on it, and the date, etc. Well of course the Pawn Shop people assumed it was a fake and the guy was trying to get about 300 bucks out them. So they called in some sort of historical medallion/coin buff to examine the piece. And the expert was not only amazed at the condition of the thing, but 100% certain it was authentic. He valued it about about $4k, and the guy owner walked out of there with a cool $2500 after 30 seconds of negotiation.
  4. Ya, I'm not familiar with SMPs at all... rep or gen. But I know (and appreciate) good work like this when I see it. And this hobby is certainly about A LOT more than collecting, even though collecting is a big part of it. So, as is the case with most hobbies, you just can't really put a price tag on it.
  5. "The Zigmeister strikes again" -- I love it when that happens! This piece turned out fantastic, but I guess I didn't realize they could be had for only $1500 used... That does make me second guess building a $1k franken. But, nevertheless, it's a great piece.
  6. Closet Roadster fan here... And, you're absolutely correct cskent, those pushers look ridiculous. But why should the movement be at fault? I'd bet Cartier uses a 7750 too. They certainly don't use in house movements in their other 'low end' products.
  7. <imagine a pic of Watchmeister's Fiddy here>
  8. Ah yes, I was looking for this too. The silver dial version is the one I love. This one is easily in my top 5.
  9. Man are there ever some amazing pieces out there. I thought I'd start a thread to display your favorite watches owned by members of our community, preferably pieces that at the very least started their lives as reps. I know for certain that none of my favorites are my own. Here are a few of my favorites, without naming names and in no particular order...
  10. A beautiful example of a tasteful Rolex restoration. Cleaned up, but not polished. And I loved the job done on the original crystal in order to salvage it. Thanks for sharing a great thread!
  11. How is your antenna? http://www.macworld.com/article/152321/2010/06/iphone4_antenna.html I love the Steve Jobs workaround, "Hold the phone differently!!" LOL.
  12. It'd be like Dustin Diamond playing Hannibal. Liam might not look anything like Hannibal, but I think he could pull of the persona. I haven't seen A-Team. The DVD isn't out yet.
  13. That would be absurd!
  14. Nice work, R! And nice pics as always.
  15. Ya, with that, I wouldn't go gen either. Looks good.
  16. Good opportunity to get in on this... the original OEM PVD coating used by Panerai. rnewbie.... you ought to jump on it!
  17. Oooh... nice. An older dial, eh? I forget which years the "SWISS" dials were used.
  18. Hear, hear! A family member of mine just returned from deployment in Iraq earlier this month.... to meet his 4 month old son in person for the very first time. A very happy Father's Day to all!!
  19. Yep. You hit it squarely on the head right there!
  20. Beautiful combo with that strap, W. See, this is part of the reason why I sold mine. I just can't keep up with this!!
  21. If it seems too good to be true...... Report him, give negative feedback, and be done with him. In my opinion.
  22. One of my favorite PAMs, truth be told. I always go back and forth between the 86 and the 89 as far as which gen I'd like to get.
  23. Fool me once........
  24. That's the Bay Area for you, right there! Home sweet home. It seems pretty tough to me to justify $100K for a little crap car, but I suspect they'll be worth a fortune when Tesla goes bankrupt.
