  1. Nothing wrong with that, I rather like them myself. But there is nothing worse than jumping in and buying a "Swiss made, 1:1, AAAAAplus, super deluxe model and then later finding that it is in fact none of those things and that one could have bought a much better watch for less money. There are a few watches that are of the type you describe, starting from a little over $100. The important thing is to do due diligence and know what you are getting and if you will be happy with it. Like most here I have a couple of watches that would pass with all but the very knowledgable and some that are really just novelty pieces. I'm happy with them equally because I knew what to expect before I purchased them and largely I know that by having done many evenings of reading here. Oh, and please post a wristie or evaluation when you buy something ?
  2. If you are looking for 1:1 and Swiss movements, I urge you to do some reading on the forum so you have a better understanding of what is available and what can be done to improve it. 1:1 is a myth and Swiss movements are a total waste of money. They are invariably old movements, dirty, worn and with Chinese and used replacement parts.
  3. It's not straight forward after many years of reading the forums and buying reps. Unfortunately there are no simple answers
  4. Nothing to be sorry about mate. If you hadn't posted that, you would have continued with the same misunderstanding. I don't think you are the first to find the whole issue virtually impenetrable and even after playing the game for a few years, I still have to stop and put some thought into which movement is which. Perhaps I should start a thread on the subject and hopefully our watch smith members will add to it.
  5. I think you are confused, which in fairness seems to be exactly what the makers and sellers are aiming for with all these different but similar names mes
  6. Yes. The Noob is the same dimensions as the Rolex movement and the Yuki is a an almost identical clone, so dial, hands and case are interchangeable between the three. I believe I have read reports of a very, very slight size difference on the hands, which is probably due to poor tolerances and may need a slight broaching or squeezing of the hands. Not something that would cause any issue to a half decent watch smith
  7. I am no expert, nor am I a watchsmith. However for what it is worth my understanding is that the movement has recently improved in terms of reliability. The biggest issue is the total lack of replacement parts. Also be aware that the JF movement is essentially the same movement as the Yuki and also that the price of a Yuki is not as much as it used to be.
  8. They may take our buttons, but they will never take our eleventh floor, to misquote an Australian, filming in Ireland, playing a Scottish man who was never The Braveheart, which was in fact Robert the Bruce, but only after he was dead. Oh and my Pictish ancestors had long given up painting their faces with isatis tincoria or woad as it is better known. They abandoned the practice about five hundred years earlier. They used it to frighten the lily livered Romans, and very few of those guys were still around to fight with William Wallace
  9. Cowbells do, elevators don't
  10. "We're sorry, currently our video library can only be streamed within the United States" Not good! I know that producer. He builds tasty Pams?
  11. As you say the sky is the limit or more correctly, you should stop some way before hitting the price of a genuine 16610? A TC is around $700 off the top of my head, then if you start adding genuine parts it will quickly escalate. A lot depends on where you get the parts and how much they cost you. To be honest I think a TC is good enough for most practical purposes, perhaps a better aftermarket crystal and genuine crown. An option I suppose is to live with the watch as is until you have learned enough for some part to oftend you and then upgrade that way a part at a time, it will spread the cost at least That is what I have done with my 5508 Submariner over the last couple of years.
  12. Hello and welcome to our community. Please take a moment to read the sales rules before listing anything for sale https://rwg.cc/forum/49-watches/ Also include a tagged photograph, which means taking a scrap of paper and handwriting RWG.cc the date your username Then take a clear picture of the watch and the paper together. Upgrading membership can be found here https://rwg.cc/store/ Before any of that maybe take some time to read up and understand about the watches that interest you. There is a ton of high quality information in the previous thread history. It's well worth getting good at searching. Try Google, type the model number or name of the watch you are interested in followed by RWG.cc . That way the results will be in our forum. Our own search tool isn't great. Anyway if you get stuck give a shout either in a thread or by PM to a Mod.
  13. Welcome to our forum. Each of the fora has a different flavour and to some extent specialises in different areas. Nothing wrong with visiting them all. I do
  14. V12 diesel??? It would have so much torque, it wouldn't need a gearbox
  15. Glad to hear it mate. Mercs keep going, and can be used everyday.
  16. Very nice, they are looking better by the day. Does that mean the Mercedes has gone?
  17. Well @Ben1212 do you want a 16610 or a 116610 model. If I were to go for the former and contact @SSTEEL to build a franken, I would start with a TC midcase, which Ssteel just happens to have been buying up lately. Ultimately it depends which model you prefer, how accurate you wish it to be and how much you are willing to spend. welcome to the rabbit hole?
  18. You are correct, the Noob is the most accurate in appearance. The ideal would be the Noob case with the JF movement, but it can't be bought that way.
  19. Yes @nanuq I'm twelve to sixteen hours everyday and work weekends too
  20. Post a picture and the guys will give an honest opinion. It might be more economical to replace it if it isn't a very good quality rep or even just put a new movement in it
  21. Do you have a rep with a problem or overdue a service? What movement does it have? Europe, yes I know of a few. U.K. I don't know. Anyone else know?
  22. Hello and welcome to the community. Please feel free to join our discussions, not knowing what I'm talking about has never stopped me? You can always post wristies or tell us about your upcoming purchase
  23. It's amazing how many watch guys have an affection for the humble Seiko. I have a few and wouldn't part with them. Fifty Fives are always a win
