  1. I'm having some fun today (not working) and I thought I'd spend some time on the forum enjoying our hobby. Since January I've been on the hunt for a nice PAM 24 as this is my grail....but everything I've found wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I even considered buying a gen but this isn't an option IMO with all of the amazing PAM reps coming out lately. When I saw the original H an N versions of the PAM 243 I didn't love it at first...mainly because I felt the 024 was king. Then I started seeing more and more posts from members posting picture after picture of the 243 on great strap choices. So you all know where this is going so lets get on with it ......well I decided to buy a v2 and got lucky with one of our dealers. My new watch arrived earlier this week and HOLY CRAP guys....seriously this watch is amazing....even the lever is nice and tight. So I ask you.....Are you still on the fence? If so, open your wallet and do it. This watch is amazing!
  2. I finally got a little time off today and I chose to play with watches. This is one of my favorite pieces built by PBdad. Enjoy: a few older pictures just for fun:
  3. Most dealers I work with send QC pics between 2-5 business days. Did you PM or email the dealer yet? If not send he/she a message and ask about an eta for the QC pics. Many of our dealers have day jobs.....remember communication is key. Good luck and keep us posted.
  4. Not sure why but close up pictures from my 4s suck....they are always blurry.....regular pictures look great though
  5. Ordered mine less than a week ago and it's in hand now. Check with all the dealers
  6. That is nice bro.....I've wanted to build one of these for my wife for awhile.....u have inspired me
  7. Well done on the edges...keep an eye open for a used Pam strap and use it as a template. Good luck!
  8. Looks gen to me.....stitching looks nice, stamping is deep and defined, and the buckle stitching loops are properly executed. Leather texture looks correct as well.
  9. "man juices".....that's just nasty...lol
  10. Most of the gen 1680's (well over 30 pieces) I've seen in the last year had the white service insert....only a handful had the original silver one. Freddy is right though...it's all about the font
  11. I honestly have yet to see a quality movado rep
  12. I use to deal directly with a "factory" that used catalog style pictures like this.....that was in 2006-2007. In fact, I think I still have a copy of them.
  13. I like the nighthawk myself. Citizen actually offered these in black....they were AWESOME! I'm sure you could find one still for sale.
  14. I've been going back and forth with this same issue....the clark I have installed is decent but DAMN that gen 127 looks amazing.
  15. 30% at a local store.....in fact they have an orange bezel 45.5 PO on the ugly orange strap right now.
  16. Good job bro....This looks nice. You know one feature I've always noticed about the 1680 is how bold the date is compared to the modern ones. The date fills the window. I'm wondering if the crystal needs to be taken down just a little at the base. Thoughts?
  17. This sounds like a good option to the offset problem. Thanks for the replies guys.
  18. How long did id take to sand off the cyclops bro? I'm sending my watch to PBdad on Monday and he is going to try a few things to correct this same issue. I would love to see what the watch looks like with an ofrei cyclops.
  19. slask111, I understand where you are at right now. Don't feel like you have to settle or compromise concerning the gen planet ocean. Although the Breitling SuperOcean Abyss (I believe that's the one you are talking about) is a good alternative you're always going to go back to the PO. The reason I said I understand is I did something similar.....I have wanted a gen planet ocean for almost 2 years now and each time I end up buying a different gen because I haven't been able to find a used one when I have the cash in hand. I purchased a gen breitling superocean and love it, but I still want the Planet Ocean. Okay, enough rambling......let me get to my point....If you really think this is a watch you will keep and you don't plan to sell it down the road I'd recommend buying it new from the AD. Take advantage of the payment plans (probably some sort of layaway or credit card) and just enjoy the hell out of the watch. However, if you think you may want to upgrade or sell it down the road for something else then hold off and just save up the cash. You're going to find a good deal on a used Planet Ocean, but you will need the cash ready to go when you find it.....that's always been my downfall....I always find another watch I want before a Planet Ocean goes up for sale . Don't do as I do....be patient......now, that's my point and the moral to my story....LOL! Man, didn't think I'd get there today.
  20. I just acquired a franken planet ocean myself....it even has a gen bracelet! Truth is, I still want the genuine article. Something about the 100% real deal that is amazing. Biggest tell on my franken is the A/R. After all of the mods (gen dial, handset, crown, bracelet, etc...) an educated watch collector will be able to tell simply by seeing the A/R. At some point you have to stop with the gen parts on some of our project though....the cost to build them gets to close to buying the real deal it doesn't make sense anymore. However, with the latest edition of the planet ocean watches I've thought about using colorless A/R instead. That would be accurate since Omega changed it themselves. See what I mean....it never ends
  21. orloff makes some great straps IMO.....two thumbs up.
  22. LOL...yeah I've been very quiet for about a year. I've got some new stuff coming out this Summer though. I am redoing my workshop right now.....and building a new website. I'm not gone, not retired, just took a break! How the hell have you been Dave?
  23. Nice to see you bro....hell yeah I remember you. Welcome back!
