  1. Actually, you can find better prices than ShopNBC. But only once a month when it "falls off the truck." Know where?
  2. Sounds like a poor seal, OR you have been setting the time on your watch outside in that horrid, humid, hot environment.... Hair dryer, crown up and open. LOW AND SLOW. Then, if you can successfully drive out the moisture without leaving mineral deposits on the bottom of your crystal, you're all set. If you quit playing with your watch outside.

Dude! I love those winders. When you gonna mod that "vintage Red Sub?"
  4. Regardless of model? Sounds to me like this should have been posted over in GENERAL........ STEELFISH.
  5. I agree, you probably saw an Invicta. Grand Diver or similar with a 47mm case. Of course, it will have Invicta engraved DEEEEPLY in the side of the case, so no polishing that out to make a supersize rep. The movements are typically Miyota 21J Automatics, but they have announced that the are switching to all SWISS... so they will probably be moving most of their models to their Quartz mov't. I have a few of their watches. A handful of their 40MM Subs with various faces and bezels, a blue faced Ocean Ghost (like a super-sized Yachty with extra numbers on the bezel), and a couple of "Blue Moon Phase" watches with Ronda quartz mov'ts.. the only two quartz watches I own.
  6. NO! NOT THE SHARPIE!!!!! Purple black smear will be larger than the defect, and look worse...
  7. The bezel has enough issues to warrant replacement. 1. 'Pearl' is wrong 2. Numbers are cheezy 3. Color is off There appears to be crud on the dial around the top of the applied marker at 6 (and the smut on the crystal may be hiding dust on the inside of the case, who knows), the small printed marker at 6 is also a bit off. The marker at 9 is low, 10 and 11 are low and left, 4 and 5 are high. Most of which would probably be noticeable when showing off the slightly large laser etched crown in the crystal, which is actually quite good. And the magnification is off, that date should almost fill up the cyclops. These show up on the 'Bay' quite a bit from 'Hong Kong' from sellers that usually are banned within a couple of weeks. That being said, the case is probably pretty good for modding, and the SEL (solid end links) will probably be a very nice fit. The bands I have seen on these are of very good quality, the most noticeable error on them generally being the dimples on the fliplock clasp. Search through the listings at the 'Bay' carefully (ie read through the 150+ pages that come up searching Rolex under Jewelry/Watches with the additional search term of 'automatic'), and you will find a few of these a few times a month. Usually starting at about $19.95 with $35 shipping via EMS. Other search terms such as "No Battery Needed for Life" seem to be blocked on the "Bay" but can sometimes slide you in the back door using Goooooogle (which will open up a whole new world of 'entry level' Reps to you, especially if you live in Malaysia (for some reason most of the Malaysia sellers don't ship out of their own country... hmmm...)). Probably a great watch for a $45-60 total cost win on the "Bay", probably an eventual disappointment for a higher cost from someone else who has used it for their daily beater for a while.
  8. And.... How much you want for it?
  9. Nice score on the Gen face and hands... I will applaud the work you've done, and have had done, on the watch before adding my (hopefully not too critical) criticism... I am not a fan of your Rep's case, it still screams "wrong!" to me... the lug width isn't the only problem... the outer edge is way too wide, and not properly indented for the crown (which is also incorrect on your Rep)... about 2 days worth of careful 'dremel' work and a good polishing to get rid of the 'fat' and to fit an original crown properly (once you find it) should definitely be on the menu... THEN, you will have a nearly perfect illusion. (unless the case material is crap, then you have a pitted ugly mess, and a new excuse to re-publish the project again, when you finish it the next time... (which is why I always mod the case first)) Really, I am not an a-hole... well most of the time I'm not.
  10. Hola! Oops. there goes that "English only" rule.. Damn... there was probably a smart-ass rule too.. Oops. Hi. Oh well, at least Reps don't break the rules... DOH! Damn that smart-ass rule. I own a few Swiss watches of various marque, nearly all mechanical automatic movements (though a few Ronda moon-phase mov'ts have worked their way into my wardrobe...) as well as a few 'ordinary' mechanicals from various places that are of little interest to anyone but me (and a few other nuts) and I have a small collection of high quality Reps that I am looking at expanding. I am a 5'9" Cancer with Blond hair and Blue eyes. My interests are Computers, Horologie and things that go bang or boom. My turn ons are finely crafted flying tourbillon movements and large plasma screens. My tur..... eh, enough already... Catch you around the water cooler.
