  1. Just make sure you request a "tritium tinted" relume. It would look pretty silly with typical C3 lume glowing like a torch.
  2. Thomas - Good to see you back. Hope all is well.
  3. JoJo- I understand your point of view but have to say that mine changes over time. Life is a circle. I started with gens only for many years. Then reps only. Then gens. And finally my happy medium - frankens. The average one takes 1-2 years and is a labor of love. And I promise you the frankens get more adoring looks from me than any gen I currently own. By the way that Red Sub is stunning.
  4. Can't wait to see it. Best of luck with the project. I am redoing my one AP Franken project as I write this.
  5. A happy wife lends itself to a happy house. Congrats on a nice watch for a wonderful woman (she puts up with you).
  6. Great review and pics. Thanks much for all the efforts. I have been thinking about converting to a rubber bezel. Can anyone definitively report that the rubber bezel is truly fixed (i.e. there is some real durability to it)? The other question I had based on the pics above is whether the rep rubber bezel has the same shape and proportions as the gen. It doesn't look like it from the pics above but we all know how different camera angles can impact the picture. Thanks again though for the review.
  7. Actually, it is pretty difficult to tell the difference between my gen MX's and these straps.
  8. Ubi- When you are ready to "regret" those Daytonas - let me know.
  9. I love that watch. I just bought a gen as well having owned the fully modded rep for several years. Congrats and wear it well. It is a great gen whether your first or your last. For all the other Breitlings that have come and gone it and the Blacksteel are still my favorites.
  10. P- Those are beautiful pieces. The real question is what do you keep? Here are a couple of nice ones I sold but don't regret. They got their wrist time and moved on to friends and/or folks who I know will enjoy them: the only 7753 PAM 187 with Honpo case: one of 2 HBB's with re-engineered Swiss 7750 movement: the first highly modded 24A:
  11. Congratulations on a beautiful watch. I have been lusting for one of those lately and IMHO that "red movement" with the snowflake hands makes the watch. Wear that one well.
  12. A simple observation - if Rocketeer is responding to emails someone who has his address should simply send one on behalf of the larger group asking what is going on and then post his response. What you don't want to do is scare him off such that the last thing he wants to do is respond or post here. If it is an "in over his head" situation (which is what we all hope) then let's get him to explain the extent to which he is over his head and how he is going to dig his way out. And there is no reason for anyone to be nasty. This is all about helping members get their watches back.
  13. BB- Always enjoy seeing Pamilies. I have to say that I too am loving that Destro. Make sure you give equal time to all Pamily members.
  14. I took a moment and read through a number of Rocketeer's earlier posts and am now convinced we have a Finepics rather than Jakub situation. It looks to me like he started with the best of intentions and then got in over his head. I am optimistic he will reappear and try and make things right. If he really doesn't reappear in the next week or so, don't folks have his address? If I read correctly he is in the UK and someone must live down the street from him. No, I am not suggesting you put a hit on him. But it is always useful to know where someone lives. My sympathies to all and hoping for the best.
  15. It looks great. Congratulations on a wonderful watch. Wear that watch well.
  16. I just read through this loop and was actually wondering who Rocketeer is because he certainly isn't someone who offers modding here. In any case, it looks to me like his last check-in was a week ago or so which times out with the phone call a member received so hopefully he will reappear and deal with whatever issues remain outstanding. But I have to add - there is a good reason why we are so slow to add modders. they are the bane of an admin team's existence. Nine times out of ten they blow up whether due to skill-set, over-promising or whatever.
  17. Live and learn - more than you know. I own a bracelet watch and never noticed how much the taper was. I just assumed it was 24/22.
  18. Welcome to the forum and I would certainly say you have come to the right place. Whether it is buying an off the rack rep or going the extra mile to make something special for you the information and resources are available. Enjoy the ride. All of the dealers here are tried and true. And it sounds like you have already gotten a sense of what can be done to make your watch all it can be.
  19. Every once in a while you have to pick one up though. The habit dies hard.
  20. When you go back to this loop every time you see an added post just to see what new witticism has been added.
  21. The freebie disappeared years ago. And by the way Ubi, that mystery movement is still operating perfectly.
