  1. I suspect yours will arrive a day or two before mine. But I won't know until Tuesday as Monday is Labor Day over here.
  2. I haven't had any problems with multiple watches. But that may just be good luck on my part.
  3. You mean Star's computer is what set this whole thing off? Star- Would you please get your computer fixed.
  4. Well, I have one each of chrono and date dials sitting in my parts box waiting for someone to make one.
  5. Well if it makes you feel any better all my packages go through JFK.
  6. Can't wait for the pics. I hope the markers do straighten out.
  7. I am with Archibald. 75-100 shipments in and out of the country and never a problem here. But it can differ by port of entry. Texas and Florida are notoriously tough with Rolexes. Maybe Bush related though.
  8. The book comes up for sale on Ebay from time to time or your local AD (in NY anyhow).
  9. As far as I know there are only two high end factories making PAM's . The new one came after the orginal factory quit production. The new factory elected to cheap out with lighter case, less accurate bezel, etc. but did make it better in ways that cost them nothing (tick marks, etc.). They did add a light AR coat though. By the way, Luminor is not on the caseback of all gen 196's. Depends on the year and probably the sub-contractor. By the way it is not difficult for an experienced watchsmith to swap out the Asian 7750 for a Swiss 7750. Just keep the Asian gearing to manipulate the date.
  10. I swim with just about any rep I own. I guess I would think twice about those with chrono pushers but otherwise no big deal. I never take my gens swimming though after a couple of bad and mucho expensive experiences with gen AP and Breitling. I don't recommend it to anybody else though and I do have virtually all my better reps checked before hitting the water.
  11. Pug- How many people can honestly say they give more than they receive on this board. I can think of maybe 3 or 4. Getting rid of the dicks would be helpful too but it still doesn't pay the bills.
  12. One step at a time. A better cyclops was organized by a group here. Finepics is working on the 7753 and 2893. Ultimately there will be a solution for some of the other movements as well.
  13. The analogy of 10% paying for the other 90% is a good one. In the context of Thomas actually having to go out of pocket the answer appears fairly obvious. Pay to play. It is the only way. Whether it is through annual membership after initial introductory period, fee to be able to participate in the forum portion or fee to see and utilize trading or sales area it should happen sooner rather than later. What happens next time there is a major server problem and it will cost real money to move? How about this - reading is free; participating is not. If you are participating you are getting knowledge and/or value out of this forum. Give back to the community or get out.
  14. Wow, now I gotta get me one and I missed that group buy.
  15. Okay, I give on this one. But let me take you back to another place and time before RWG.cc existed: TRC - April 2006: Kruzer00: They are selling all over the world. However, at the moment, it appears to be only available outside Japan through the affiliate of the Japanese dealer. And as such the dealer can charge a hefty price. Then again the dealer earned his exclusive by outlaying $10,000 to buy the genuine 187 to allow the manufacturer to take it apart to CNC a number of the key parts and then providing a sizable intial order. To date only 150 or so have been made. There have been many rumors of the exclusive ending and wholesalers stepping up to make another large scale order. But none of those rumors have been confirmed. As for the 7753 version, we are told by the Japanese dealer that the decision as to whether to make it or not is likely to be made this Summer. But that doesn't mean they will elect to do so. I've been begging for a 7753 since late March. Alot of good it has done so far.
  16. Sorry to hear about the headaches. Even more distressing to hear it is costing you money to run the board. That has to be resolved to insure longevity of the board. I suspect there will come a day when participation on the forum wil require some form of monetary contribution. Certainly anyone on this forum who has ever benefited from this forum by buying from the dealers should be donating some small portion of the money they saved if they had been left to the wolves. b
  17. I prefer to think of it as a protected fish sanctuary and I am a happy participant.
  18. Hey wait a minute, I said that 5 months ago (actually Ken did). I am very impressed that his group is taking concerns from members seriously. Now whatever happened to Kenji? Anyone remember him?
  19. I have enjoyed a number of your posts so I am glad you are sticking around. As with any community you will develop a few close friends (you may have already) and that is what makes it worthwhile sticking around.
  20. I suspect you can get away with quite a bit in your office.
