Off the top of my head, 125 units for Wempe and sold only in Wempe. It is in honor of the 100th anniversary of something but I can't remember what. Duh, it is on the back of the watch. Chronometerwerke (working chrono I assume).
Great pics. And if you want to see stunning women in the flesh with nothing on but a Rolex, it is time to head to the French carribean islands. But there ain't no subs - only Daytonas and in white gold with white faces. I would have taken pics guys but I don't think it would have gone over to well with the girls (or my wife for that matter). And yes I am headed back.
Aha. Thanks to Panerai shooting prototypes for catalogs and books I have more than one rep which I would not have bought if they had taken the time to shoot what they actually sell. It's all a conspiracy. After all, do you really think it is an accident that the website shows the 217 with the wrong bridge plates on it?
Gets my vote for best Frankenwatch. This is the one we all would kill for. But don't take it personally Randy.
If I ever buy another Rolex gen this is it.
May be its a rep. You don't suppose they pulled a Panerai and shot a prototype? I don't own a 188 but three friends do (although one just sold his). All had recessed dials and black hands. Then again I did not ask them what year they had. My big complaint is the font on the numbers.
I have it as well. If you are running two PAM's on a single motor be prepared to have to screw down the main bolt which holds the turntable every once in a while. The only other downside is that for may reasons discussed before (including movement pattern and angle of the watch I find that probably only half of the watches keep truly accurate time). But it sure is helpful on those Perpetual Calendars.
I have had mine for about a year and it is still going strong.
This is one of one or two tone watches i really like. I have the gen and it is beautiful. Of course, Thomas is right. All it says is Swiss on the bottom. Mine is about 15 years old. But it is damn exciting that AP's are finally appearing in good form.
The movement is a big deal. But you pay alot for it. If you buy 2892 version you are buying an original movement rep. Any other mods such as changing crown, datewheel or cyclops will be well worth it. The watch will hopefully last a lifetime. On the Asian you buy it as is and leave it. Apples and oranges.
