  1. What admin? I am staying away out of fear for seizure of information as much as anything else. It is clear to me that these forums require active administration to ensure protection of the membership from scammers. That is why you always need a Thomas type and not passive administration.
  2. Chronus- If you are successful in moving ahead let me know. I have been talking with a certain watchsmith who has worked on a number of them and I can fill you in on all the little issues. None are a disaster but if the manufacturer/wholesaler is aware of them you may be able to head off future problems. I would have PM'ed you but your box is full.
  3. The HE valve on the two versions is different. On the first version it is etched. The etching is not as deep or thick as gen but the gen is etched. On the latest pics the He valve is actually "in relief" and sticks up. The first version is far closer. The 7753 with the Watchonpo case is the dream. I will be amazed if this is achievable at a price below $700.
  4. I am with RobertK on this one. Sell or swap for another gen if you are bored of the Breitling. It won't take that long to save up for you're next rep. Just buy them one at a time as you can afford or desire and enjoy them. Of course I didn't take my own advice on buying slowly. One year and twenty something watches later... After all, this sport is addictive.
  5. After all this time and 7753 Daylights, 187, 1950, 2892 PR's and GMT's,etc. it is still my first PAM original movement rep:
  6. I am an everything fan. By-Tor - Very nice collection. Those Omegas are growing on me. All of them.
  7. No but I do treat my better modded reps better than my gens. I went to far more trouble to get the reps than I ever did with the gens. It ain't about the money.
  8. You do have to be careful that you can swap out the Asian datewheel (if it is the better font) with the ETA one. You can end up being stuck with the standard ETA font. This is not an issue with the date "between 4 and 5" as the mechanism and datewheel remains intact but maybe when it is at 9 o'clock.
  9. I am going to respectfully contradict the prices always fall theory (at least for the same quality product). On the 7753 196 I must admit I was surprised to hear that they are in the $500 range. But even if they are, by the time they fell below $700 they were being made at a different factory and the quality (weight, accuracy to gen and overall quality) had fallen substantially. My Panda is woefully inadequate relative to my original 196. Hell, my Asian 196 has a far better case. I already see a difference in the latest pictures on the 187 with different date font, raised letter helium valve, etc. I just hoped it has not moved onto a new factory. The movement does stink though.
  10. Sql Pl- Holy cow! You are right. I hadn't noticed that it is a different version but it certainly is. Will wonders never cease.
  11. It is the same movement. On the markers, if you are referring to the markers on the bezel - the gen has white gold. If you are talking about the hour markers, the top of the hour lume reservoir is shiny on the rep versus blackened on the gen. Still an awesome rep aesthetically.
  12. You guys still think it is a rep?
  13. It's not $900. But I do have a very good sense what the factory is demanding in terms of minimum quantity and price though.
  14. Before you get all excited, I suspect the price would be in the $700-800 range (unless someone believes that 100 pieces could be sold). I would be aiming for 25 pieces in that range. I am good for one in that price range. Anybody else?
  15. You don't suppose he has a bunch of better PAM reps sitting in his closet, do you? She doth protest too much...
  16. That sub looks damn good. If it is a rep please let me know who you got it from.
  17. I know Eddie went to quite a bit of trouble to develop this. Cheers to him for being the first and only one to step up to the plate. Price is excellent. If you have been sitting on the fence on this one, get off it. You and everyone who sees it will love this watch.
  18. Sounds like you ran into a real life Biff (anyone see Back to the Future). But why did you turn this person onto this place? $5 says his first post is "who has the best sub". What I want to know is where do people find other folks who "call out" reps? Would you really ask this question to a stranger?
  19. Well, you won't have to worry about the flaws in any case as the watch doesn't exist. But if you don't swap the bezel, don't bother with the GMT hand or the GMT movement as you won't be able to determine what time it is in the second zone. In fact, why spend the money on a 2892? Just use the Tuxedo dial in a different case.
