aggghhhh you and your pesky post, and PWc puts up a 270 today, it must be a sign. Might see if i can get one ST4
-
Thanks for that I may well do the same, what did Nix say about the roller ball
-
No worries mate glad to help out and its sparked my interest in the 233/270's again. Though I've not dealt with PWC I've had the feeling that he might not be the easiest of dealers to work with and you have to follow his process or else!! Probably why he's not a recommended dealer here. Perhaps Sead might be an alternative I think he could find one. I know there are a few rollerball reps out there but I can't seem to find one now. I guess its just a matter of finding a dealer who might swap them over for you or at least sell one on its own modify, all part of the game I guess. So how did you get the AR off of your 217 , was it difficult? Removal of AR would be preferable to replacing the glass for sure.

PeteM I am really quite surprised and to be honest a bit despondent that you've not had any replies to your request. Sadly it seems that the $150 to $200 reps aren't very popular with the rwgristi. I keep contemplating over this rep to. The closest I have had to it was a genuine tunnel strap, which I later sold as it wouldn't fit my puny wrists. At one of the Sydney GTG last year I did get to see one in the flesh and I have to say they are a remarkable fine looking watch and the one I saw was really rather good quality. I'm sitting here think why the friggin hell haven't I got one. From what I can tell PWC over at RG did a really good one for $149 I don't know if he still has access to them at that price but I may well pull the trigger on one. The gen And here is nixx 's over on RG, I really hope he don't mind me showing his pic, He got a new non AR crystal from jacksonte and it looks the mutts nuts . You probably know all this already , The first thing is to get one with a black date wheel, the second is to get one with a tunnel strap and not some poor quality croc , the third thing I am interested in is the movement but also trying to find the roller CG lever might be hard. Now the Gen is this Now I have seen some reps with this type of movement but they were 47mm fiddy types and don't think there are any about still. But its some fancy 3 barrel manual wind job Watch Eden has this which is good value but I don't like this movement. but PWC was better though the same as the WE really but has a nicer look with this wheel So now I get to my point, if the movement concerns you which it might me , it may be better to look at the 270 which as far as I can tell is nearly the same But has this movement which is abit more like the rep version. Im sure I saw a rep of that somewhere and now I cant find it here is WE though, biut this has a pesky gold movement 270ish People seem to b1tch and moan about the faults with these watches, I couldn't give a hoot about the GMT hand not working properly....... I've a few settable GMT's and it just a pain to set and another thing to stuff up, if it moves at 24hr pace thats fine by me. At the end of the day it's a nice rep for around $180, I hope you get one and look forward to seeing some pictures of it and what you reckon its like. Perhaps this bump might get some one to show theirs Cheers ST4

I think the original versions or the 1990's versions anyway were of a decent wearable size, this is 52mm which I think is a bit big. PAM00300 Details are PAM00300 Movement: hand-wound mechanical, exclusive Panerai OP XXV calibre, 12

Thats a very cool looking 000 you have there PeteM, wear it well

Totally agree that its a great looking watch, I was admiring one in an AD earlier this week. The thing that struck me was the AR really made the dial "Ping" even when coated in protective plastic. The dial really works in the flesh, more so than pictures provide. Shame the reps so poor. I guess most things could be remedied with some work, the worst thing for me is the pearl in both quality and position, not sure why as they never bother me too much in the past on other watches but the reps looks like it was hanging off the side. Here's to hoping they make a better one. ST4

A right pair of beauties you've got there. I think I prefer the grey 02 dial ST4

Crikey sterling effort indeed -
I'm not suggesting its perfect by any means but Its a base logo, with L Swiss L and sausage dial, its a close as a 000 as you can get from the dealers at the moment and its pretty cheap

Help! Black Carbon Fiber Calf Deployant Strap
StormTooper4 replied to Eton's topic in The Panerai Area
Looks very close to the one I saw on a 212 at an AD on Monday, what makes you think its not gen? Padding looks about right and the stiching is tidy the underside looks to be of correct calf skin , I'm tempted to say gen and if it aint its still a nice loooking strap. ST4 -
I got and iMac for Christmas Seriously the Thing rocks, everything is integrated and works no faffing around, just got office2008 and its good to go. The apple stores are great cos you can just walk in and have a quick lesson on iphoto or what ever and it really is a pleasant experience and they do look good, we dont have a lot of space so it works for us. Also you dont think you are at work, windows based pc's always feel like work , these just seem different, I had bever used a mac before and dont have an iPhone but I would recommend them whole heartedly

Which straps for a skinny wrist? (6.1inch)
StormTooper4 replied to Danny Boy's topic in The Panerai Area
Being titanium can limit your choices if you want a Titanium buckle, unless you're ok to go with brushed then there are a few more options. I was lucky enough to find an MF1942 with titnium bukle and I have yet to find a better strap for my 55. But I like the look of the calf leather and I've polished it to be more red than it was. I have 2 1942's and they are really great straps especially for the smaller wrist. If you want to go for the Gen look and feel that you like the watch enough to invest some $$$ I would consider getting an OEM dark brown croc. Which should be 24/22 so the question is do you have 22mm buckle? Titanium 22mm can be hard to find so you might want to brush a polished one to darken it up and make it more suitable for you 176. Good luck with your search for the strap, its one of the things about PAMs that you can spend as much on straps as you do watches. And the wierd thing is that the same strap can fit better on some cases than it does on others. ST4 -
What? You seriously don't know if its Gen or Rep? Whatever it is, its a rare bird and looks good so look after it, I'm sure a few RWG'rs would like to get hold of that CG. ST4

what was your favorite pam you have ever owned rep or gen?
StormTooper4 replied to tanya's topic in The Panerai Area
So far the list has been 127 055 195 192 204 229 201A 177 003 040 205A black 205A white 196 022 028 002 Right now its a toss up between the 28 and the 002. Today the 28 is winning -
I think most of us tend to turn our noses up at quartz, the market seems to consider them to be mainly for Ladies. I saw some PP's that were quartz in an AD and boy did I scoff. There is no denying that they work well and do the job . But at the end of the day its a $100 watch. Andrew is a good dealer and it could well be your introduction to the world of reps. If you like the look of it then go for it. ST4

Show that CG a bit more please. Caseback shot is always nice as well. Either way its a nice 22. Wear it well. ST4
-
Though I'm not a fan, there is no denying the effort that has gone in too the details of this watch. How does it wear? as it looks a monster ST4

That looks very nice. Great lume shot

Sounds like the VP has a case of VPP (very poor pams), clearly has no shame!!! Looks like the one that European MP got rumbled for a few momths back. They don't make a front visable tourbillion Panerai only the 0077 and that was a Rad.
