  1. Nice history lesson, Pho. I would like to add that Paul, when he joined forces with Davis, started up abaywatch. com and revolutionized rep buying by setting up the first webstore with multiple photos and PRICES, completely transparent, all the collectors had to follow suit and post their pricing. Huge sea change, IMO. Prior to that you just got web albums with pix and had to e-mail for prices, it was a big secret.
  2. I'm ordering one of these this weekend. If the fit & finish is anything like my recently acquired IWC Cousteau quartz chrono ($120/iOffer) and my B&R quartz chrono ($99/iOffer), and I suspect it is, this watch will be AMAZING for the price. Guys, I don't know if you are aware but, the manufacturers are taking the cases & bracelets/straps from some of the $400 reps and putting cheap, super reliable quartz chronos in them. I'm collecting them all and having a lot of fun doing it.
  3. If they ever rep this watch I'm sure they'll reproduce the cheap bezel click perfectly, lol. I love this watch too, esp. the vintage, but I don't think we'll see this one reppped, too esoteric.
  4. Could these bezels be steel with a thin coat of ceramic on them, and how could one tell if they were pure ceramic througout?
  5. Absolutely. What dealer would hire an artist do do these slick, expensive renderings of the watches? Photos are much more reassuring. Shame, the vintages are gorgeous.
  6. Hi guys, I'm back. After reading this thread I agree, it's not her.
  7. Hi and welcome from another Chicagoan.
  8. Occasionally I check in at Regeek and there's a female member there with the screen name of Posh whose style reminds me a lot of Victoria. She's based in Wash DC, I guess that doesn't mean anything. Actually, someone on RG called her Victoria within a thread, hmm. Anyway, just thought I'd bring it up. I'm going to sleep now, I'll check this post tomorrow. Cheers and good night to all.
  9. You know, it looks very, very good, thanks for the detailed photos. I'm sure whomever gets this bag will be delighted. I'm in the market for a nice duffel to carry my stuff on weekend trips, I went to highreplicas and was re-directed to runwayhandbags. They have a nice selection, and their photos show all the accessories yours came with, so I guess it's the same. The prices are quite reasonable too.
  10. Interesting, how does it work?
  11. You guys, I am so jealous, I wish I could join you. I LOVE Manhattan - the architecture, museums, watch stores, fine pen shops (Chicago is left with only one, all others have closed), the incredible lox & bagels places, Central Park, just the density and richness of the town. Enjoy!
  12. R, very, very nice! And I don't even care for Subs but yours makes me want one.
  13. Very interesting, thanks for the response. So now I'm curious about the japanese rep collectors, how many are there and are they typically as fanatic about reps as they are about golf? Freddy, so you're going to pop for the vintage Daytona? Lucky you.
  14. Hey m, you know, that looks pretty good on you actually! The downward curve of the lugs really helps.
  15. What a mess, well I think your kindness in some way will be returned to you a thousandfold, and thanks for taking in the doggie.
  16. I'm reviving this thread - so, what happened, flex?
  17. I can live with those flaws but the etched coronet on the crystal is too heavy-handed.
  18. Here you go, BT: www.etayahonpo.jp 95% of their offers one can get from our collectors, but the 5% exclusive I find very tantalizing.
  19. Well their 2008 Milgauss I'm lusting after is $148 USD in asian 21j vs. Joshua's at $98, so I don't see the Silix pricing. But I'd be willing to pay the $50 difference for a much more accurate watch.
  20. I just looked at the site some more, they have the 2008 DateJust in the larger 40mm case, looks very, very nice. Waaah, I want one.
  21. Fascinating, thanks for the info Kruzer. You say they have their own limited manufacturing capabilities? That sounds quite expensive, I wonder then, how can they sell this Milgauss, for instance, for, I think, about $300 USD? Anyway, it's too bad really, I guess I'm just being greedy but occasionally Honpo shows some unique watches and I wish we had access to them. Also, I wonder what the penalty is for the rich person's assistant getting caught doing this? It would be a huge embarrassment for the rich guy.
  22. Hi all, I was just browsing the etayahonpo website, one of the new offers is the modern Milgauss, 40 mm case with what appears to be a greenish cast around the crystal edge. I'm no expert but it looks pretty good to me, and it's certainly unique to this collector, our collectors use the standard DJ case. I know this has been discussed before, I know about the limited runs of the Pams, but please indulge me -why can't our collectors get some of Honpo's unique offers?
  23. Personally I wouln't let my reps, cheap or expensive, anywhere near water unless tested for waterproofness. I'm not into rusted paperweights.
  24. Good for you Dani, enjoy your watches! And yes, where are those photos?
  25. Wow, Jacky Chen is back, very interesting. He was around about 4 years ago, very reliable collector with high quality offerings. I look forward to see what he has.
