  1. Thanks for replies, guys. I'm def not a Harley type, and don't want to invest that much money into it. I'm thinking it over, sounds like it would be exhilarating...but with an overlay of caution. Not sure it would be worth it.
  2. I beleive the color Rolex uses for bezel is called platinum. Arthur, which dealer did you get yours from, if I may ask please?
  3. Hi all, hope you are having a nice weekend getting ready for the holidays. I live in Chicago, the congested North Side to be exact, and am thinking of getting a scooter to get to work. I'm getting fed up with CTA, our public transit, we have the highest fares in the nation, and now they will be cutting service on top of that. Enough already! Ideally I should ride my bike around town, but, to be honest, I am leery. I've seen too many near-accidents involving bikes and cars. A scooter, being motorized, would be perceived as more of a vehicle in city streets, I think. But again, I am a bit leery of having all my limbs exposed while piloting a scooter. Also, the condition of a lot of our streets is not the best, lots of potholes and crumbling asphalt. I see more and more people riding scooters in downtown Chicago, and I am a bit envious, it looks very cool. I would have a nice, dry space to park it too - we have an indoor parking space for our car and I could park it at end, behind the car. Of course I'd wait until spring to get one, right now we have about 2 inches of slush on the streets. So, what do you guys think of riding a scooter in the city? I thank you in advance for your responses.
  4. So Ubi got one also... You two are from the same pod, I think.
  5. So you finally caved and got one, Lani! I'm wearing mine as I type, it truly is a gorgeous watch, the white dial is a chameleon for sure. Remarkable pix too, you are very talented.
  6. That Project X Sub with the maxi dial and lack of crown guards is pretty cool, I hope we see this one with a good movement in early 2010.
  7. Thanks so much for this info, Francisco. You are a true asset to the forum with your generous sharing. I'm thinking of getting a DateJust II from Joshua, it is offered with 3 movement options, the swiss ETA 2836 (which I'm ruling out thanks to you), the asian clone ETA, and the least expensive 2816 21j movement. Which movement would the experts recommend?
  8. Hi all, hope you are having a nice weekend. I am looking for a specific Datejust, and I can't find it in any dealers' website pics. It is an SS DateJust with blue sunburst dial, romans, smooth rounded bezel and the classic oyster bracelet. I know that Ruby used to be able to do this, but, I hate to say, she is not as reliable as she once was. Thanks very much!
  9. Thanks, doc! I'm going to get one from Tony soon. Gotta love those quartz bargains. Nice find on the ad - isn't inflation something? Although, the average white collar annual salary back then was $11,000. And I think Helina just got herself some new customers, with that healthy sense of humor. Very charming.
  10. doc, where did you get this from?
  11. Very nice write up, and great macro shots, thanks! I have this one on order after acquiring the Blue Surf on SS bracelet - really love it. You are correct - the bracelet edges are some of the sharpest I've come across, def need some sanding down.
  12. So you can't help yourself and you have to hide it from your wife...
  13. You really trade in a sports car every 8 months?
  14. You know, that looks very, very nice. Thanks for the superb, accurate pics Lani. May have to get ths one, I like it.
  15. I wouldn't wear it but, that Jacob is kinda cool actually. I look at Honpo's site on a regular basis too, and I'm fascinated by the fact that they have stuff our dealers don't have access to. Why is that? Anyway, maybe a Japanese member could help you out with this, good luck.
  16. I think Samurai was asking about ellitcal machines? I used to use one at the gym, it made my legs and butt as firm as steel, but, it messed up my knees and I pulled an achilles tendon while using it. I've heard that the ellipticals are not ergonomically good for you?
  17. I'd go with Tony - www.watcheden.com Best selection, and I've bought about 8 cheap watches from him with no problems.
  18. Rolex, for whatever reason, polishes the edges of some models but not others. I assume it gives the watch a more "dressy" look. The rep makers follow suit.
  19. Lani, you're back! How are you feeling? Regarding the AR with the yellow cast - not good. I noticed this also, I'm ready to buy a TT BCE with white dial and the pics I've been poring over from the various dealers - the ultimate v3 white dials look terrible, very dirty, yellowish cast to the white dial, looks awful.
  20. So glad to hear you are out of ICU, Lani. Your presence here is sorely missed.
  21. And waht happened to "no diamonds, just simple and refined'?
  22. I like Angus' black dial with romans. I wonder if these are the cheapie $108 ones? No pricing on Angus site yet.
  23. Get well quick, Lani. Right now your health is the most important thing, you've been fighting this a long time. We'll be waiting for you to return.
  24. ranisavage, who's your new dealer?
