Finally a new rep I can get excited about, the new Pams were not my cup of tea. Can't wait to get one (the better improved one)!!!
-
Good luck, hope you get something decent. Robert of Prestige Watch Co., a dealer on RG recently said that most of the good old dealers on iOffer are gone, it's a complete crap shoot over there.
-
Right, let's put it this way - would you rather give your money to some stranger named Sally, or from someone who's been a contributing member of this board for a very long time and is easily accessible?
-
My goodness, how remarkably tasteless, these two idiots deserve each other. Reminds me a bit of some of the old Kobold ads with Sir Ranulph Fiennes with his bloody nose (ewww) and James gandolfini giving the finger, lol.

Happy holidaze and best wishes for the new year, R.

How big is your wrist? My wrist is 6.5", but narrow and deep in cross-section (no I didn't saw my wrist off to determine, haha). If your wrist is wide and flat, but small, you can carry off big watches better than narrow and deep. Anyway, I have a few 44mm Pams and I think they wear OK, but they really do cover my entire wrist, almost borderline too big. My rule is, if the lugs extend way beyond your wrist it just looks too big. This is what I do if I can't go to AD to try on a watch I'm thinking of getting as a rep, it's kind of fun. From internet get a straight on pic of the watch, print it out, then measure it, go to a copier and reduce/enlarge until the copy is the correct gen size. Cut the watch out and put it on your wrist, gives you some idea how big it will wear.

I gotta say - that first QC photo of Mary's is a very nice pic, almost catalogue quality.

Well that's good news, after all. I was thinking of buying a few quartz chronos from Watcheden, and was hesitating...now I think I will do business with them.
-
Hmm, OK, this just confirms what I've heard about Watcheden, their prices are cheap as they deal in lower end reps BUT, they charge you for every darn little thing.

Getting married on Saturday *nervous as hell*

Congrats on the wedding and the watch. That beautiful watch should inspire a lot of confidence, enjoy your wedding. -
Excellent! I'm sure it will be a great conversation starter for the uninformed.

Now that's just the epitome of swank...lovin' it. Thanks for a great post.

Hey Thomas, welcome back, it's been a long time. Acquire any good AP reps lately?

What is it about rep DDs & DJs - they just don't come close to the gen?

I guess the gens are 36mm w/o crown but they do seem to wear a bit bigger than that, dunno why. Your Tudor is very sharp, I will mos def consider it, thanks! -

jmb, for a minute you had me all excited, I thought the big boys had come out with a DJ/DD that felt a lot more like what I experienced at the jewellers yesterday. I know the DJ/DD II is 41mm, and quite frankly, I don't care for it. The case and bezel seems bloated, the bracelet seems too narrow for the watch head, I don't care for the proportions at all. I'm going to drop in at Tourneau soon, have them measure the case size minus the crown, also the thickness. Somehow I just bet that it's bigger than 36mm. I'll report back what I find out. -

jmb, I was not aware of a new DateJust II at 38mm? Whose dealer's website may I see this please? By-tor, I was thinking of RobbieG's long-ago remarkable review of his gen when I composed this post... -
Hi all, At lunchtime today I walked into a jewellers, they had a fairly good selection of Rolex, quite a few DateJusts and DayDates. I tried on a few of the standard mens DJs and DDs and was quite struck by how great they looked on the wrist - they were surprisisngly substantial and had terrific wrist presence. They seemed to sit a bit higher off the wrist than the rep. I have a two year old rep ETA DateJust, top quality which I bought from a trusted dealer, and it definately seems smaller, doesn't sit as high on the wrist as the gen. It has kind of blah wrist presence. Has Rolex slightly increased the size of the standard mens DateJust, and the reps haven't caught up? Or are the currently available DJs & DDs a bit too small and thin?

You're fine - the knurled collar around the pusher should be un-screwed when you want to use the chrono, then screwed back down again to lock and disable the pushers. Very nice watch, enjoy it.

Thanks for reply - watcheden I know, his name is Tony. Who is the other Tony you refer to? Also, anyone buy from Laurence at House of Souvenirs? Or Lay of Replicamake? Thanks.

Hi all, hope you're having a nice weekend. So, I'm thinking of buying a few impressive looking yet inexpensive and worry-free quartz chronos for friends and family I know won't be careful with a7750 chronographs. I'd like to spend no more than $120 each. I'm thinking of buying an AP ROO, a Blancpain 50 Fathoms, a Chopard Classic Racing. These watches have quite a lot of wrist presence, I think the recipients would be delighted (I hope). Who, in your opinion, would be a good dealer for these inexpensive quartz chronos please? Thanks much.

Sorry to be blunt but, if you consider this forum to be "dead" why don't you think of something to make it more lively?

Contact Joshua (perfect clones) or Andrew (trustytime), look in dealer's section. Tell them exactly what you want and they'll be able to put together a high quality DJ for, you, won't be disappointed.

I never bought anything from him, but I do remember him. When was he around, about 6 years ago? He was also known for his vintage Submariners, yes? I wonder what ever happened to him?

Vac and Francisco will be doing teardowns soon. I'm excited about these new releases but will wait for the movement reviews.

Interesting, so watchcollectorHK is a dealer? Anyone try him?
