Correct me if I'm wrong but I read somewhere that you have 9.5" wrist, yes? In that case the latest version Rolex DSSD would fit your criteria superbly, it's big and thick, would look great on your wrist. Get a watchsmith to epoxy the HR valve and waterproof it - perfect.

Breitling bracelet screws are notorious dropouts - they are so tiny. Loctite Blue is your friend.

George, I dunno, I had a root canal done about 5 years ago and it was not too bad at all. The worst part was the pain that led me to the dentist and as soon as he began to inject LOTS of anaesthetic before the root canal I felt much better. The actual procedure was done in 2 parts if I remember and wasn't bad at all, very quick and painless. The worst part was getting fitted for the crown. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. -
Screw Colin Farrell... Don Johnson was the man!

I dunno - it's actually refreshing to see a smaller, thinner watch on a man's wrist. Actually looks great and well-proportioned, not too small. Makes me want to look at joshua's full gold DD offerings. I loved Miami Vice, it was so atmospheric and kind of debauched. -
Reminds me of these pastries my Baba used to make called crullers - deep fried dough that's immediately rolled in powdered sugar.

Congrats to you and the Mrs., Gran!

I'm returning a watch to Andrew, and I will have a credit - I think I've just decided what I will apply it to - a white dial BCE

Superb choice, By-tor. The black onyx dial with romans is really sharp - a bit retro art deco, just beautiful. Can't wait for your usual excellent review.

You are correct - the non-MBW version of the Jumbo does have a harsh transition from the bracelet to case, the end link is too narrow and forms a sort of "step" between the case and the link. Other problems are the way too gold bezel screws, the gens are white gold, which is a very faint gold, not brassy gold. Also, incorrect caseback. The MBW version, although pricey, is the one to get. I don't have one but, from pics and testimonials it is one of the finest reps out there.

Being a bit OCD, I don't know if I could ever own a car like any of those - every little scratch or even smudge would drive me nuts.

Okayy...so I'm of Lithuanian ancestry, and one of our gastronomic delights is to shoot an ice cold vodka and immediately chase it with a bite of some kind of prepared fish - pickled herring, smoked salmon, baked whitefish with tomatoes. So good! So, I guess this is not so offputting to me. I sveikata!

Wow, that is a nice crisp shot. Anyone have experience with the HTC Incredible from Verizon?

I need some new glasses, mine are falling apart. Went to Lens Crafters yesterday, they're 1 block from my condo. Found a frame I liked, got a cost estimate worked up - $630. Insane. I'm sure the frame costs them $25, and the lens, labor and materials = about $15. I have a very high prescription and need progressive bifocals, they wanted $520 for the lenses alone. Offered 30% off the lenses, but still, it would have come out to over $500. I walked out of there fuming. The pair I have now I got with work insurance, they were about $300. I don't have ins. anymore. Got home, got online to zennioptical.com, could get glasses for about $70 but I don't think with my high prescription and need for bifocals I should go the online route, the position of the lens is critical for bifocals. I think I need personal fitting. Not sure what to do next.

Looking for an intervention. Please help!

Well, for myself, I can't see the tourbi overshadowing my collection, I've carefully chosen each watch and enjoy wearing each one very much. I'm just curious about the chinese tourbillon phenomenon and the watch would fill a nice position in my collection. If you really want it, I'd say go for it and enjoy. -

I'm thinking of buying a tourbi myself, looking at some in the $600 range. I am hesitating right now, to me $600 is a fair amount. In the back of my mind I'm wondering if the fascination with the tourbi movement will dissipate and I will become bored with it. -
vric, the RG/black dial is from Homer, yes? Beautiful, a true shame he retired from business. I like the JLC very much, nice clean dial that doesn't compete with the tourbi - perfect. The Hublot is very sharp too, very nice. You order both from Hont? Your photos are great - answers my question precisely. It seems that the black or white dial is an aesthetic choice, whichever one you like better, both showcase the tourbi very well. Thanks much for the photos, a big help, and enjoy your watches, you must be excited.

Angus has a large selection, I think 9 pages worth, the ones with PR are over $900, ouch. Anyway, he has the JLC and the VC Patrimony in steel, what I'm looking for, but I don't know about Angus service there days....
-
I agree with you about the uncluttered dial, if it's too busy it will take away from the tourbi. I e-mailed Josh about the JLC Master & the VC Patrimony, if he can get in SS rather than RG. If not, I'll contact other dealers who are willing to search out watches.
-
Hey R, how's it going? I like yours - it has a nice, big tourbi you can see and the dial is fairly uncluttered. In looking at Josh's offerings I like the JLC Master and the VC Patrimony, but it appears they are offered in RG only, I wonder how often I would wear it, prefer SS. I guess I could ask Josh if he could get it in steel.

Hi good people, so I'm thinking of getting a watch with the working tourbillon complication, something truly different to add to my collection. I don't know if this question can be answered but, I was wondering, if you had the choice, would you prefer a black or a white dial to showcase the tourbi motion? Thanks much.
-
Thanks much for the review, Franke. Very nicely done. I would really like to get a white dial Exp II, what would be my best option?

Wowzers, she doesn't deserve that watch. I assume her assistant wasn't around to take care of it for her.

Better in what way?
