  1. Late to join the party perhaps but the film only came out here (Nederlands) this week. The first decent Bond since Connery and the best Bond film since 'The Spy who loved me'. A long film perhaps and I've got a few criticisms of it (reality of the Aston roll over scene and the 'defibrillation' sequence) but taken as a whole this is the closest I've seen to Fleming's conception of Bond ever put on celluloid. BRAVO!
  2. Used prices on Sub's and SD's is more or less the same in the UK, therefore I'd go for a SD every time.
  3. I see some truth in this but at the same time I'm still yet to see a reasonably high quality watch non-replica with ETA movement for $200.
  4. I don't know if any of the old hands have taken a look at RWGI recently but I just did and was dismayed to see what it had turned into. To be honest I can't see what useful purpose posting this thread really has and was a split second away from deleting it. Then it occurred to me that some of you guys are the only people who'll have any idea what I'm talking about. RWGI- the zombie corpse of something I once loved resurrected, moving and jerking it's terrible way to decay..............
  5. Original seamaster does have pins as do the earlier replicas of that watch. Can't understand why they stopped making the more accurate band. The only weak points on those replicas were the bezel, pearl, clasp and HE valve. They were still great reps though.
  6. Thanks guys for the interesting and informative posts. I was hoping for some comment on the price. Things are nice and expensive in the EU as I'm sure you know. I looked on some US sites and I could save at least $300 but I'd have import duties to pay. The watch in question comes with all the stuff, freshly serviced from a UK dealer still top dollar though.
  7. It's not a replica but bugger me if I couldn't find anywhere other than the 'Omega' area to post this question and I need as many people as possible to view this one. I'm considering buying this genuine watch, here's what I already know about it mostly from this site http://home.xnet.com/~cmaddox/MarkSeries.html Uses a 1040 movement and that's about it. Does anybody know what the correct Omega ref for this watches bracelet is, what the construction is and whether or not this watch has acrylic or a crystal? Does anyone also know what kind of water resistance this watch was rated to when new? I believe 30M but obviously no vintage watch is going to be reliable in that department even if pressure tested. I'm thinking of spending US$1300 on this watch thus why I'm asking around as much as possible.
  8. Again thanks for the hard work, I'm happy to go with Jay as I've bought from him before but if he isn't going provide the box set then I guess I'm out. Please let me know.
  9. I'm interested with the box set, shipping to Netherlands or UK. Let me know.
  10. You missed out 'Independant means' in the 'what do you do section'
  11. Looks great, does it have an 'El Primero' movement as well?
  12. Have to agree that selling knives isn't a problem. Neither would I have a problem if we were discussing replica guns, replica motorbikes or replica rat poison. Prohibition is never the answer be it knives, drugs, alcohol or whatever. The issue of misuse is totally different to the issue of supply.
  13. May have been up here before but it's new to me http://howtoprankatelemarketer.ytmnd.com/ Made me nearly fall of the chair laughing.
  14. Great report, give me the desire to get out there and see it for myself as I've never been.
  15. I just left my bracelet overnight in a 'bath' of 3 in 1. Then left it for another day to drain off on some paper towels, removing the excess surface oil every now and again. No cleaning with soap and water, no oil drooling out of the bracelet just a much better, closer to genuine, feel about it. I think the time I left it to seep made all the difference.
  16. Great story. I recently passed my friend a handbag sized spray of CS gas that I bought for my girlfriend before we left France (Highly illegal in most places in Europe). He had no idea what it was but there's a picture of France on the front of it so I guess it looks like a souvenir. I didn't mention what it was. He then proceeds to spray it on himself like after shave while I watch stunned and with horror. Anyway after 10 minutes of coughing, sneezing and choking while he showered it off I suggested that maybe, just maybe something with 'incapicitent gel' written on it probably isn't the best thing to 'splash all over'.
  17. I recently bought a watchmaster No1 and can report that the watch is of good quality. Whether it's worth the premium is a matter of debate. I could probably have got better value elsewhere and a more accurate replica to boot. However it is better than my so called TW best SD in terms of the movement and of course has huge modding potential being able to take OEM parts. For an extra $100-150 dollars or so over the best of the rest I think it's worth a punt if you can afford it.
  18. The current England manager is an ass, something I've thought all along. The arrogance of the overpaid and underperforming England players has been justly rewarded. Well done Croatia.
  19. BMW's are on variable service intervals so it all depends on how it's been driven in the past as to where it is in the cycle. The routine goes like this Oil Service Inspection I-minor service Inspection II-major service and repeat The 6 cylinder engines have far greater longevity potential than the 4's. Think of the 4 as a cheapo asian auto and the 6 as an El Primero.
  20. Paypal screwed him due to one user being an ass. I can understand why he doesn't want to use them. Don't know if this is just for 'noobs' or for everyone but I paid him by direct bank transfer, no way would I send cash because although I trust PT, I don't trust the mail service. The choice is of course down to the person buying, as you say there's plenty of other people taking paypal, although not so many in the EU.
  21. The BMW Mini is a nice car but practicality is in short supply IMO. Only room for 2 adults and almost no space in the back even with the rear seats down. Also fuel range on the supercharged version my girlfriend has drops to below 200miles if you use the performance. It's good to drive though.
  22. Not at all, when I said to my girlfriend 'but it's a quartz' she looked at me as if I was speaking in tongues and said 'but it looks so nice'. Thus why she's got one.
  23. I presume you are talking E46 based compact and saloon 3 series? Very similar cars, using the same platform. That said in euro markets the 320 saloon you are talking about was a straight 6 engine, miles better than the 4 cylinder Ti. If that's the case where you are there's only one choice the silky smooth 6 cylinder. Be aware though many E46's were made in South Africa and don't have a great reputation for buil quality or longevity you might expect from a BMW. I had an E46 Coupe 330ci and it looked well worn after a couple of years lightish use.
  24. Chanel Ceramic quartz J12 in black is quite accurate but it's quartz I'm getting my girlfriend an Explorer I which is a mid-size watch following the trend for women to wear larger watches. Think the ETA version is meant to be pretty accurate.
  25. Just tried this tutorial and confirm that if you're a ham fisted moron you WILL wreck your watch. Luckily I tried it first on a 'canal street' grade rep a friend gave me. My second attempt on my SD 'TW best' went well. Patience is the key.
