If you could own one (and one only) gen - what would it be?

I was thinking long and hard about this one: Strangely all my grail watches are somewhat affordable. I don't like gold but prefer SS, I find complications interesting but rarely aesthetically appealing.

Right now I'd say my grail would be a Sea Dweller 16600 or a Speedy Moon watch (both of which I will buy one day). But only because I already own the most classic watch I've ever seen:

Good answer.

I have several answers for historical watches, but for a modern, off-the-shelf gen, it'd probably be some cheap Seiko.

I'd never seen one of these before and wondered if they were in the new Argos catologue......they were n't :(

.....then I found out the price :shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:  :shock::shock::shock::shock:

Can I go halves with you Pugwash. Nice looking Seiko though.

If we're talking about only one watch at all for me to wear forever...

I like chronographs, so it would have to be a chronograph. I sometimes swim or waterski, so it would have to be heavily water-resistant. I prefer SS to other metals. And I often forget what day it is, so I would need the date.

Perhaps this:

if money wasnt a matter it would be some master piece of course.

Like a PP/VC/JLC/RM

Like a gyro tourbillon, a minute repeater, Perpetual calender with ratrapente chrono...

But hum, that is never going to happen unlees i win the lotery.

But as you can allway dream my first purchase would probably go for some expetional piece, with very unusal way to display the time, but fully mechanical.

Like tsome Degrisono MECCANICO DG for example

In the more realistic field, any JLC would do, and hopefully i have one. and the vintage RLX of course, but i can franknen them ;)

If it is one watch and not my money I go with one of the Uhrwerk's. Only ever seen one and thought it was so cool. Those independent turbines are a horological masterpiece. I had always thought I would want the Freak but actually tried one on and subsequently lost interest. Really doesn't bode well for ever being satisfied with one watch. Then again, that is why we are here.

I would probably choose some super expensive watch, like Breguet Type XX chronograph full gold. Something that I would treat like a treasure.

But if I had to choose one gen to wear, I would choose the watch I already own... GMT 16710. My dream watch since I was 13 years old.

For me, no other Rolex comes even close (save the 1675 Pepsi of course).

Depends on the Breguet model though. Double Tourbillon A Grande Complication is over 300.000 Euros. :bicycle:

Not my cup of tea though.
