Hi all,

Some of us already know this but I thought it is important to post it here.

Basicaly it is absolutely possible to avoid fees for the recipient of a payment.

Here is a screen shot of my PayPal. It's in french, but I presume all is pretty much easy to understand.

Here is how you make payments usualy.

All you have to do is select the "personal" tab instead of the "Buy" one.

I do select Other.

I made several pmts this way and none of my sellers got charged for fees.

As easy as 123!

So please, try it.

All the best,

Stephane

Do you still have the ability to do a chargeback with this?

I guess you mean refund Pug.

Well, if there are no fees anyway, to refund, the seller uses the same way to pay the buyer back, that's it.

I mean if the deal goes south, can I claim my money back from you?

Will paypal let me take my money off you, like they can in a bad sale?

Oh, that. Well no I guess.

But let's face it, if you know the seller, and he is like me offering a 100% refund within the 15 days of transaction, where is the risk?

When I sent PP for the used porikka I bought a couple days ago and Ziggy's deposit for his appointment via the iPhone PayPal app, I THINK it defaulted to "Personal" payment.

Nope, no chargeback. Buyer loses ALL protection.

I used this to buy my MBW case. It was super easy. But thanks for pointing this out for everyone! It will be nice not getting charged so much in fees!

Hey Stephane,

I have used this method before myself; once to receive and once to send.

On the third attempt, I was prompted to select whether to accept the fees or pass them on to the buyer.

I've had the same thing happen, but the fees are lower (in my case 1% of the total amount) then normal and the seller doesn't have to pay anything so it's still very convenient.

Hmmm, that is not a good news :)

We'll see in the future if it happens to me too.

So far no problems though

Reversals:

Please be aware that your payment can still be reversed, (e.g. if it is subject to a chargeback), even after you have posted the item to your buyer. Complying with PayPal's protection programs and following the trading guidelines, in our Security Centre helps to protect you from things like chargebacks.

Refund:

You can issue a refund for up to 60 days after the original payment was sent. PayPal refunds the payment and fees, including partial fees for partial refunds.

I think it's great but should be used selectively with people you trust! Seems this could be an easy

way to have your account flagged.

Just be careful!

I think that if you pay from CC, you still have to pay fees, but you can choose will you pay it, or you will pass it to the buyer. If you pay from PP balance, then you can avoid fees by using this.

I know PP is a convienient way to pay for items but ever since ebay forced users to accept PP as accepted payment on my account (cos they own PP) i just dont use ebay any more.

I was buying and selling quite happily for a couple of years just accepting hidden cash, cheque, postal order or direct transfer into my account i accumilated 145 feedback and 100% then they started bullying people into paypal...greedy bas**rds..!!

Wont use it out of principal.

Sorry...rant over.. :whistling:
