ubiquitous
I've not been a big fan of the DSSD, but this puts the watch in a whole different light. I think that looks smokin' hot! Very nice!
dluddy
Wow T. Like Ubi I have been on the fence about this one Never would have thought it would work in PVD But man, that kicks ass
Guest avitt
Thank you very much for the feedback Looks fantastic, is it like a "gun bluing" process? DLC stands for Diamond Like Carbon. It's a physical coating with several attributes (including hardness, wear resistance, and low coefficient of friction) which make it appropriate for various industrial uses including machine tools, aerospace parts, F1 engine parts, pharmaceutical implants....and watches! I provide the DLC coating as an aftermarket service. Some references to other work that I've done are included here: Avitt DLC Reference Thread

Jkay
Looks fantastic, is it like a "gun bluing" process? 95% certain it's an electro-static process, like powder coating.
Guest avitt
95% certain it's an electro-static process, like powder coating. Not like powder coating. DLC can be applied using PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition), or PA-CVD (Plasma Assisted Chemical Vapor Deposition). Here's a link to Wikipedia, with lots of good information. Basically, you can think of DLC as having a similar composition to diamond. But whereas diamond is arranged in a crystalline structure, DLC is amorphous, like glass. In terms of hardness, DLC is about as hard as sapphire.
moggy
That looks awesome! When I eventually receive my new DSSD I might seriously think about getting it DLC'd. Bob.

Nanuq
Ooooooo, nice Doxa! That's the exact model I've been pushing him toward. But wow is it overpriced... I paid $800 for mine a year ago. Think he'll see this???
P4GTR
I don't like it. Seriously, I can have my own opinion and stick to it. I don't have to be a sheep like everyone else... Ok I love it! I can't lie. The blue ambient lighting sets it off in the pics! May I ask what a treatment like this would run from you Avitt? Spectacular. SFSO would look amazing like that.
