ubiquitous Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Wow... That is extremely surprising... And quite sad to hear. Quite the loss...
gran Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Sad that the old genius is dead. He will be missed. Excentric yes. Loved money yes..but he also loved watches
chrgod Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 That was sad news. One of the few great profiles of the watch industry. I remember his quote that he had to wear a watch from each brand in the Swatch-conglomerate, as he did not want to discriminate anyone..
georgegrasser Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 Caring for others is important. I am a man of limited means, but a Master at Chess. So I can and have given of myself by giving free chess lessons. I'm sure Mr.Hayek would never have given me a free watch. I asked Jean Claude Biver for a free Hublot and never received a response. I can only feel sympathy for those who would feel sympathy for me. Great Humanity is severly lacking in this world. I will not weep for the wealthy.
OSRep Posted June 28, 2010 Report Posted June 28, 2010 He surely gives Maradonna a run for his money Shame, a huge influence on the modern watch era. RIP Mr Hayek....
Raijor Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 I think his was a life lived on his own terms. Well done sir ... I salute you.
crystalcranium Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 Oh my...very surprising. I loved the way he loved and cherished Breuget and made certain that brand returned to its greatness. RIP
Virgil Hilts Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 "Great Humanity is severly lacking in this world. I will not weep for the wealthy." Fine display of humanity yourself, there, pal. RIP Mr. Hayek.
KB Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 One thing Mr. Hayek had over most of us, he lived his dream. Great man, so sad passing. Ken
Guest Carl Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 It is sad news indeed. There was an excellent article about him in the last Wall Street Journal Magazine, a week or two ago. A true friend of watch makers and of watch owners. A visionary, I think. Carl
southcoast68 Posted June 29, 2010 Report Posted June 29, 2010 At 82 I'm sure he had a very full life +1 RIP Nicholas
lhooq Posted July 1, 2010 Report Posted July 1, 2010 Fine display of humanity yourself, there, pal. It boggles the mind... RIP, Nick Hayek.
