j4jure Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Josh just put this up. Let the pics speak for themselves:
daytonaboy Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Date wheel's a big tell .. inverted black/white on Gen.
swdivad Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I was just about to post this... Nice watch, besides the date wheel, I wonder if everything looks and works as it should.
1976 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 One other big tell is that the date window is round and on the gen square, also lume sticks too fat. They always have to F@#$% something up
edgematic1 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 BIG FAIL... pricing should be around $240 with eta, heard from a chinese friend... Datewheel is white, 12 o'clock marker should be 2 separate sticks, case is way too thick, metal surrounds on markers too thick, bezel screws should be slightly recessed, round date window...
hiker01 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 So let's wait for V2.... +1.......I don't know why they can't get it right the first time. This is like DSSD memory lane!
edgematic1 Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 imagine they will use their sentence... "A Genuine watch is dissected and used as sample for this replication..."
txcollector Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 the dial markers look OK. It's probably lighting. Replacing the DW is a non brainer. Case thickness is the only let down for me.
Polynomial Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 I bet they used the ROO's case or a version of it, hence the tickness. Mind you, I like the ticker ROO case, but yeah, it's not correct for the diver...
alanytical Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 Replacing the DW is a non brainer. And....completely remanufacturing the dial because the date window is supposed to be square not round.
txcollector Posted December 8, 2010 Report Posted December 8, 2010 And....completely remanufacturing the dial because the date window is supposed to be square not round. yep, big fail. Let's see if they will try again.
mt666tm Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 again with these glaring tells... why even bother? I hope they get it right with the next V
Niko Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Definitely disappointed with this effort, and I have to say that I am surprised with such an obvious flaw. I was really looking forward to the getting the diver, but will be waiting for the next version. Let's hope they nail it next time, and we don't end up with a V5 AP Diver.
kuli Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) Make the bezel blue and it may have just been slightly useful. Gen pic from gemnation http://www.gemnation.com/watches/Audemars-Piguet-Royal-Oak-Offshore-Scuba-15701ST.OO.D002CA.02-5348.html Oops this one has arabic numerals.. Edited December 9, 2010 by kuli
Guest Sql_pl Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 V2 is just around the corner, confirmed.
j4jure Posted December 9, 2010 Author Report Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) V2 is just around the corner, confirmed. That is wonderful to hear! I don't know why they even rushed out with this half-baked rep anyway?! Do they really think we will overlook obvious flaws just because it's the Holiday season?! Edited December 9, 2010 by j4jure
pam1950 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 oh, excellent then. Surely, V2 will be much better than V1, but not as good as V3 which will have the improvements of V2 alas with the flaws of V1... V2 is just around the corner, confirmed.
colorao Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 the hands of hours is too long in gen is more short
Watchmeister Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Can't wait to see that boutique case back.
MADRED7 Posted December 9, 2010 Report Posted December 9, 2010 Mmmmh, Josh removed it from his page. It looks like a China-edition, a first attempt, a prototype-rep.....all fláws are mentioned before and here is my additional input (might be helpful for Josh and the factory): - the printing "Audemars Piguet" and "300m/1000ft", "AUTOMATIC" should be printed on a seperate plate and those are glued to the dial! - the lume filling of the stick markers is way too thin ...well and the other flaws..... BUT I would get one piece as soon as they will re-do the datewheel/datewindow....for all the other flaws I do not care too much. At least the new rubber strap and the caseback looks like a match (No. 0009 looks a bit too near to lucky number ! Cheers all., Theo
