It's been a while, but I decided to try my hand at another 1665 mod. This started life as "PT" Rolex 1665 DRSD with a gen ETA slow beat movement.

I've done the following mods so far:

Shaved CGs

Beveled and polished lugs

Lugs drilled and gen spring bars installed

New period correct crown (may be gen) with a Yuki tube

Aged and matte sprayed MBW dial

Relumed Clark hands

New date wheel overlay (this one is nice, but I am looking for other options)

Insert recessed and aged

Case edges lightly softened (I want to do a bit more aging to the case, but nothing too drastic)

Looks good Marty.

The biggest challenge to all of these SD and Sub reps is trimming the cg's. The PT SD in addition to an inside trim, could use a trim over the top and along the outside edges. It's a time consuming project which I haven't undertaken yet either- lots of filing and polishing.

I trimmed the insides and that's as far as I got.

It's on my someday list! But I still think these PT SDs are great bang for the buck, especially with the 2846-2 engine inside and the 6 and 9 markers on your dial are a nice size, not too narrow like PT's GWSD dial (I swapped mine out for an MBW dial).
