Rolex 1500 franken

Hi all,

i have been building a red 1680 for the best part of two years and decided to buy a complete 1500 for the donor 1570 movement. A complete watch made it more cost effective and ensured the movement was complete and working. I finally found a great specimen in Hong Kong for 1500usd, quite a bargain me thinks. So the red is almost complete just waiting for a winding stem to arrive. In the meantime i brought a 2846 donor movement and put the 1500 back together this morning.

Let me tell you it was hard to break this watch up, it is a great example of a vintage Rolex. Anyway here it is rebuilt. Hands are Clarks and date overlay is one i had hanging around for a long time.

And before anyone asks no not for sale, its now my girlfriends ...

enjoy ...

Looks great!

What did you do for a retention ring? Also, datewheel?

Thank for the nice comments guys, yeah the girlfriend loves it ...

Ronin, i tried the Yuki spacer but didn't work with this. It was too tall so i ended up using a spacer out of an old Tudor Oysterdate which had to be slightly modified.

The datewheel is a vintage style overlay which i've had for years. Font is quite thin but it lines up well ..

Cheers

Those are 34mm, isn't it?

I still think 34mm or 36mm is a great size for a classic men's watch. Just in case you want to wear it from time to time ;)

Completely agree Chefcook but just don't do it after wearing a Breitling Super Avenger :)

Cheers
