polexpete Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Hi all, i have been building a red 1680 for the best part of two years and decided to buy a complete 1500 for the donor 1570 movement. A complete watch made it more cost effective and ensured the movement was complete and working. I finally found a great specimen in Hong Kong for 1500usd, quite a bargain me thinks. So the red is almost complete just waiting for a winding stem to arrive. In the meantime i brought a 2846 donor movement and put the 1500 back together this morning. Let me tell you it was hard to break this watch up, it is a great example of a vintage Rolex. Anyway here it is rebuilt. Hands are Clarks and date overlay is one i had hanging around for a long time. And before anyone asks no not for sale, its now my girlfriends ... enjoy ... Thanks for looking P.
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Looks stunnig Your girlfriend most been very very happy when you gave it to her. Pol it's a very very nice rolla i like it very much...
chefcook Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Those are 34mm, isn't it? I still think 34mm or 36mm is a great size for a classic men's watch. Just in case you want to wear it from time to time 1
alligoat Posted January 7, 2012 Report Posted January 7, 2012 Nice job Pete! I've got the parts to build the same watch, but I was thinking a 2824-2 would do the trick movement wise. Guess I'll find out!
ile Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Absolutely beautiful OP date! Hope she'll treat it well
Ronin Posted January 30, 2012 Report Posted January 30, 2012 Looks great! What did you do for a retention ring? Also, datewheel?
polexpete Posted January 31, 2012 Author Report Posted January 31, 2012 Looks great! What did you do for a retention ring? Also, datewheel? Thank for the nice comments guys, yeah the girlfriend loves it ... Ronin, i tried the Yuki spacer but didn't work with this. It was too tall so i ended up using a spacer out of an old Tudor Oysterdate which had to be slightly modified. The datewheel is a vintage style overlay which i've had for years. Font is quite thin but it lines up well .. Cheers P.

Just in case you want to wear it from time to time Completely agree Chefcook but just don't do it after wearing a Breitling Super Avenger Cheers P.

Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I love this watch!!! Amazing Pol!!!
freddy333 Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 The pink strap gives it a bit of Italian pinaché, but I think it looks best on the folded link.
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 I'll bet Pol is getting some ass tonight after he bought her that pink strap, nice move mate you know how to pick em
ile Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 Awesome watch. If your GF stops loving it for any reason let me know. I would make a great addition to my collection:
