Ronin Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Enjoy! Those that know me, know I like the minty NEW look, and a fresh chance to "Let it Age Naturally on my Wrist". Kicking off the project. Stay Tuned. 1
mikellem Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 What kind of lump is on there? looks outrageous! MM

Star69 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 (edited) so version 2 = 100% gen congrats ! cheers, Frank Edited January 18, 2012 by Star69
Ronin Posted January 18, 2012 Author Report Posted January 18, 2012 so version 2 = 100% gen congrats ! and let me know if you want to get rid of the old movement cheers, Frank Yep. Acquiring the service parts, and a 'serviced' 1575-GMT took over a year to pull together. With patience, I have saved about $2000 -vs- buying a 1675 outright, and then having to have it serviced. So a $2k savings, and the satisfaction of assembling it myself makes it well worth it. A grail piece for me. Put the movement on the watch timer, and it is keeping COSC!
chefcook Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Very cool I myself have never understood why people are so crazy about patina on their watches. I'd always prefer a nicely serviced, minty look. Your project v2 will likely be the perfect 1675 for me
IanH Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Beautiful GMT you have there. I also prefer the refreshed look of a freshly serviced watch. Sent from my GT-S5830 using Tapatalk
justlounging Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Wow!! All theze 1675 coming out of the woodwork.. Will u be using the other dial? Could use a dial n faded pepsi insert for my own build..
Bardamu Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Congratulations ! And I must say that I personaly understand why so many people love patina on their watch. It looks like a wrinkled face, you can see its past life. Anyway, obviously old or like brand new, both are very nice. And in this case, as you spent time to gather all parts and make the assembly, I can imagine it makes this watch so personal, so unique. Enjoy ! Paul
modelizer Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Simply amazing! Now, do I look forward to the updates in this thread? Hell friggin' yeah! Keep 'em coming Ronin!
Cats Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Stunning Ronin, a nice way to save 2K with a lot of fun and satisfaction after you cleared to job. Wear it well. Cats
vlydog Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Minty and crisp works for me. It must have been a thrill locating all your parts. When I start a new project, part of the joy lies in the hunt. Congratulations!
danielv2000 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Stunning assembly of parts and inserts!
lhooq Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 WOW! This is going to be a GMT build for the ages!
cjjoyce1 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Is your case a service case too? If it is, does it have a serial number yet and a date stamp under 1675 in the caseback?
Star69 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 comming back to this - i need to get a gen case grrrrr
polexpete Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 new or old 1675 is awesome ... great work Ronin, love it ! P.
Ronin Posted January 18, 2012 Author Report Posted January 18, 2012 Is your case a service case too? If it is, does it have a serial number yet and a date stamp under 1675 in the caseback? The case is a Gen, well cared for, polished only once by RSC, and is from my birth year. So the case is as old as I am. --- SUGGESTION NEEDED: Should I use the FAT Font insert which would be more correct for the year of the case? -or- Should I stay with my "Service" theme and use the NOS Service Thinner Font Insert?
Akira Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 Should I use the FAT Font insert which would be more correct for the year of the case? -or- Should I stay with my "Service" theme and use the NOS Service Thinner Font Insert? Very nice build mate, about your Q. Depending on what you want your watch to be. Really well taken care off? Only worn a couple of times over the years? Then I'd say fat front...it's in remarkable shape. I it recently serviced, plexi exchanged, service dial, service insert! Since yours has a service dial, I'd say thin front insert 1
chefcook Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 ... SUGGESTION NEEDED: ... Stay with the "serviced" theme. Mixing vintage and service parts always looks like something is missing.
cjjoyce1 Posted January 18, 2012 Report Posted January 18, 2012 and is from my birth year. So the case is as old as I am. I thought you said this was a "vintage" project lolz. A true Birthwatch! Very, very cool! I'm more than envious
