StormTooper4 Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 That is very cool, That pilot is a star
FxrAndy Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I wish I was as calm as he is under pressure like that!
modelizer Posted February 21, 2012 Report Posted February 21, 2012 I wish I was as calm as he is under pressure like that! +1 Very impressive!
dluddy Posted February 22, 2012 Report Posted February 22, 2012 Sully was a rock during the whole thing - most impressive That animation was cool
Jackjo Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Mikellem, thanks a lot. Now I am going to be looking for birds out my window every time I fly from now on. It was pretty cool how it turned out though. I don't think it would have looked as smooth landing in a corn field or something.
jmb Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I'm astounded at how calm the flight crew remained through the whole thing!
tabularasa415 Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 I have a couple of pilot friends, and it's really no wonder to me as to why they're alcoholics (and that's coming from me being in the restaurant industry and drinking a lot)....
krpster Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Just incredible skills. His judgement and actions were spot on.
Nanuq Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 What a spectacular display of skill under extreme pressure. *standing and applauding*
Adeodatus Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Can't believe Chuck Norris works at US Air...
mikellem Posted February 23, 2012 Author Report Posted February 23, 2012 I am amazed also.... That one one spectacular day.. MM
woof* Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 My Dad was a pilot in WW2 and Korea. He was a captain and flight instructor with United Airlines for 30yrs. When I was a kid I got to sit in the back of flight simulators while he was instructing. I got the chance to see and hear all the bells and sirens go off and how they reacted to problems. They go over and over this stuff till its drilled into them. This kind of strength and stability is trained into these guys. I know that if my Dad or his coworkers were in this situation the recording would show similar results. I have great respect for pilots.
Adeodatus Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I began my military career as a pilot (later converting to SOP) . I gotta tell you guys, landing on water requires great skill and training and still most of the times your chances of getting out of it alive are slim, but, landing an Airbus full of passengers requires insane flying skills and balls of steal.
wimpie007 Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Wow thanks for sharing! I would be yelling and screaming ;-)
