mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Here is a new style DJ. Can you tell if it's real? Keep in mind the pic is at an angle to elimanate the glare, the date lines up correctly. Just having some fun
PhilFree Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) The date font is not as thick as the genuine. Also the text on the dial is a bit off. From a distance it would hard to tell. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Edited July 30, 2012 by PhilFree
chefcook Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 Rep, not even a good one. Date font is off, dial is too small and this dial type was never sold in a new style case (six digit reference number). Case lugs are too thin, SELs don't fit too good, rehaut seems wokky. 1
mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 Just a note of something I recently noticed on gen rolex with engraved rehaut. The R begins in the exact center of the hour marker, and the X ends in the exact center of the minute marker.
mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 I didn't say it was the original dial. The fact that you can see the rehaut engraving well enough to make that observation, is amazing.
mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 Remember folks, just having some fun!
amespinosa Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 (edited) could be a franken. the dial is from a 16234 planted into a 116234 case, daterfont is for older rolex being an open 6. case is good enough, especially the rehaut engraving. as i said dial is from an older model, as well as the matching datewheel for the movement. my theory is gen case for 116234 and movement + dial from a 16234 or earlier rolex Edited July 30, 2012 by amespinosa
mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 This dial was available in 2005, with or without rr tracks. A lot of people don't like blue dials, even the new style.
w.genzo Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 case/bracelet are not gen, wokky and bad SEL fitment, neither the dial which has a ugly coronet and SWISS MADE on a dial that should be swiss t<25 Sorry but it looks like a canal street replica. 1
mymanmatt Posted July 30, 2012 Author Report Posted July 30, 2012 This is a datejust not a submariner, No t25 on a DJ. Same dial as item # 370634719222 on the bay without RR tracks. I do like the new shiney silver dial, notice "swiss made" only on the dial. Surely noone would try to sell a rep on the bay and present it as gen, would they! I like all your comments and take no offense to any of them. Still just having some fun. It is amazing the knowledge some you have on details of rolex watches.
w.genzo Posted July 30, 2012 Report Posted July 30, 2012 yeah I meant TswissT, tritium dial. That dial on ebay is newer than yours and luminova, you can see it from the rail roman numbers. Of course I know it's for fun, and also our comments are just for chatting
cjjoyce1 Posted July 31, 2012 Report Posted July 31, 2012 What stands out about the dial to me is the huge distance between the markers/minute ticks/lume dots and the rehaut. And it can't be a gen dial as some have suggested because no gen 16XXX series dial has that much room between the edge of the dial and the markers. It wouldn't fit in this relief. Besides that, the coronet is wrong an the OP and DJ printing is off for this generation dial
alligoat Posted August 1, 2012 Report Posted August 1, 2012 I like it even though it's not right! Old style silver dial, 16000 datejust DW w/ open 6 on 16, polished DJ2 case and late model bracelet with SEL's and polished center links- but it sure looks nice.
