It's hard to guage making it too easy or too difficult. This one definitely needs a clue I think: Aah, a nice day out on a boat on the water. The clues are, it's in Australia, and the first people to pass through on their way to live beyond it permanently described it as "hell". Mokolii - is a tiny rock near Oahu: Further deduction would take you to Molokini - which is a sunken volcanic crater off the coast of Maui - no buildings there...
