My 1966 PCG 5513 Gilt build

1966 Rolex Submariner 5513 PCG with underline

 

Genuine 1520 movement - completely rebuilt with genuine Rolex parts - keeping within 3 seconds 

Genuine Bezel assembly w/ gen insert

Mid-case and case-back shaped by MillerDave to PCG - engraved by NeckyZips - polished by master watchmaker

Yuki 5513 2-line meters first with underline dial and hands, face aged by me, matching hands

Star-Time sourced OEM 1665 super-dome Plexi  (personal preference)

 

Pressure tested and diveable, not that I would...

 

I'm in love with it! Worth the wait! Hope you all enjoy it (finally) and thank you to all who contributed the knowledge to help me put the parts together and set out on this journey.

It does the business without breaking the bank. One needs to make decisions when building these things...gen movement that gets entirely rebuilt using original parts...or period correct insert. I know I need to improve the hands and insert - but decisions had to be made.

Whatever they told you about your insert (MK III mid font, MK IV whatsoever) - it's not made for a 5513.

That IS a genuine 5513/1680/1665 insert. Just google "5513 midfont". May not be period correct for a PCG, but it could have easily been a service replacement.

It would not fit on a sapphire watch.

So I did a bit of aging to my insert on the 5513. I used a dremel tool "fine-detail abrasive brush" then polished it a bit. 

 

These are ultra high res pics taken with a Canon DSLR so it really shows everything. I took an iphone shot as well. Less harsh looking in person, and I'm happy with it, the black gloss of the insert is gone, it's a little barked up - and now looks the business of a 50+ year old watch.
