Nanuq Posted July 27, 2016 Author Report Posted July 27, 2016 Good guess, but it's a little older... a 6536/1
Sogeha Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 It's not a fair comparison buddy. You already told us that the 6536 has had restorative work. Somehow I don't see you spending hours in the beauty saloon. 2
freddy333 Posted July 27, 2016 Report Posted July 27, 2016 The watch is in great shape for its age, but I think you are in much better shape, especially consider that you have been many more places & experienced many more things than the watch. 2
JoeyB Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 56 years old, I remember it well. But I'm still good when I get wound up every day or so... 1
Justasgood Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 56.....hmmm, and both still ticking and running strong. Class begets class my friend 1
preacher62 Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 I'm with JoeyB except that he, apparently, can remember 56 better than I. For me that was 14 years and many watches ago. When I first joined this forum in '09 (I think), it was my impression that most of the members were young guys and gals, but I have come to realize that there are some of us that are older. I wonder how many members, active on this board, are over...say...60 years old. It means something to this strange hobby, as there are some of us who could buy anything he/she wants, but still we enjoy this hobby. My wife has asked, why don't you sell these and buy a real Rolex. My answer is "Where's the fun in that?" 1

My lady friend asked that question as well. With age comes wisdom. I've learned 3 things. 1: That when a mature man exits his Mercedes SL550 wearing a 60+ year old Rolex, no one, not his doctor or lawyer or insurance agent or investment banker dares ask the question 'Is it real?'. B: That my rep 6542 and 6204 are more 'user friendly' than the gen, more accurate, and only a few people in the world, most of them here, can tell the difference. lll: I could spend the $12,000 to $100,000+ I didn't spend on a watch to buy my Mercedes SL550. And it works.

jmb Posted July 28, 2016 Report Posted July 28, 2016 Ya ol' fart! Oh, wait, I wish I was only 56 you whippersnapper... How long's it been since anybody saw/heard that term?
preacher62 Posted July 29, 2016 Report Posted July 29, 2016 Amen, JoeyB! It all depends on how you act. Justin, you must be movin' on, as well. Or else you learned those machining skills at a young age.

I've been blessed with two extraordinary women in my life. I'd like to know what I did right to be blessed this much so I can do it again. Never know when the end will come. I'd like to load up a bit. 12 hours ago, preacher62 said: Amen, JoeyB! It all depends on how you act. Justin, you must be movin' on, as well. But now they have Viagra. 'Why stop to take a pill?' So you can get a little.
Sogeha Posted July 29, 2016 Report Posted July 29, 2016 I'm reminded of the old joke about it taking all night to do what I used to do all night.

mcotter Posted July 31, 2016 Report Posted July 31, 2016 Delighted to know that I'm not the only "mature" watch goof in the free world. I remember in 1964 that a Sub retailed for $200 & I was not even close to spending that much on a watch...well 52 years later & maybe a 100 subs later l am still in love!...best, mcotter
