Project Completed: Franken Rolex Submariner 16613

Just wanted to share this beauty with you. I never thought I was into gold watches but when I came across the kit, I decided to give it a go. Now that is it completed, boy do I love this watch!

Specs:
- TC case with amazing work by dbane. I seriously love the finish of this case.
- Gen dial
- Gen hands
- Gen 18k bezel
- Gen insert
- Gen 18k crown
- Gen 18k two tone bracelet 93153
- Gen crystal 
- Gen retainer ring and washers
- Hybrid yuki3135 with bunch of gen parts
- Gen date wheel

Another awesome build. You must have an unbelievable gen parts selection to keep doing these high end builds.
I agree dbane's case work is exceptional. Best I have ever seen. I like his case work better than my gens. With those two guys working on a watch you know it's going to be awesome.

This is the only two tone watch I have ever liked, and this one is perfect shades of blue.

I would love to build one of these one day, this one is inspirational!

Thank you Tor. The only thing I Iike about the new 116613 is the solid link bracelets and ceramic insert. I feel like the aluminum insert can easily be scratched.

It's the dial. 16613 has one of the nicest blue dials ever. The new one is just generic blue. I've seen it in the flesh and it didn't give me any "Buy me"-feeling at all. The old 16613 is always just as amazing.

It's a beauty. Whenever I see a five digit next to a six digit I'm always struck by how crude the design of the six digit case looks. I tried on a six digit hulk at a friendly dealers yesterday, I loved the dial and ceramic, but I couldn't help wishing that Rolex had built a few intermediate models using the older midcase.

+1. The more classy dial markers and the beautiful blue of the 16613 does it for me.


I tread softly along the fine line separating raving insanity and lucid moments of ingenuity. The issue is I've no idea which is which mostly.
