Nanuq
Yeah the roads were brutal this morning! But the climbing was good this afternoon. Let's get a beer!

Nanuq
11F at the mountain house this AM, all the critters are arranged around the wood stove sucking up heat. Gonna be another bluebird day, who wants to go climbing?!
QueTip
Damn, it's not even really cold round here yet, yet I'm already freezing like hell. Been slightly below 10°C and about 4°C at night / morning but BRRRR how do you survive this?
Nanuq
Huh? It's still short sleeves weather!
alt.watch.obsessive
72 degrees here a mile high in the lower 48! On a mostly unrelated note, I have a woodpecker that has taken a shine to my house. Any chance the little bastard will freeze when it turns cold? The internet tells me I'm not allowed to shoot it. Nanuq
Here's an idea, put out food to attract bigger, tougher birds. It's NUTS how the birds stick around during winter, we'll look outside and the little guys are puffed up like baseballs trying to stay warm. Suet balls are no good, they freeze hard so we feed them black thistle and sunflower seeds. And try to keep the bears off the deck! 9F this morning. Winter is on the way! alt.watch.obsessive
I have been reading up on how to create an attractive home for an owl, but I'm afraid the quail would all be gone the first night. We have a falcon who sizes us up hungrily from the deck railing through the window every now and then, but he's never around when I need him.
