TeeJay Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Should the dealer replace it if the package gets confiscated by customs?? If it doesn't work, must I pay to send it back to China??
Guest TTK Posted January 22, 2008 Report Posted January 22, 2008 Yeah.....but you can't put them inside a golf club or a toy piano....

KB Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I was going to ask how hard are they to cut open to get your watch out. Ken
Victoria Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Can Ruby get these? I think PZ is right -- if we don't trust the Chinese to make an Asian 7750 with seconds at 6 which work, would you really get into a repped BMW? Crikey.
predfan2001 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Don't let little kids eat the paint
doc savage Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Check out this comparison of the Chery Amulet (fake Lexus IS) versus the gen.
kenmasters Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) That's awesome.. is there a MBW version? As long as it can take gen parts, sign me up ! Oh, i just watched the video above... hmmm.. first gen swap would be a better crumble zone and some gen airbags Edited January 23, 2008 by kenmasters
Corgi Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 The Chery Amulet is a pretty nice looking car actually - it's like they modernized the 155, one of my favorite Alfa Romeo. However, judging by how they behave in accidents, I certainly wouldn't want one... unless to end up like the footage on Signal 30!!!
Dizzy Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I remember reading where a factory in china was copying new Kawasaki KX250 dirtbikes with amazing precision for a fraction of the cost... I wonder how i can get one? haha
takashi Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 As for motorbikes, I can vouch that the genuine is better. Back in my hometown, a replica of Honda/Yamaha motorbike is prevalent. Market is flooded with chinese fakes which look really the same. However, you'll be surprised about the engine quality and parts quality over time. Simply reliability is at stake here. They just can't last as long as the real thing. And yes, it does accept genuine parts (including the engine).
Victoria Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Check out this comparison of the Chery Amulet (fake Lexus IS) versus the gen. At FORTY MILES PER HOUR...well, at least the air bags deployed.
doc savage Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I remember these fake cars from a while back when the Chery qq came out as a blatant rip-off of the Chevy Spark. GM actually proved that doors from the QQ fit a Spark with a perfect seal (so yeah, I guess you could make a franken compact car). My favorite is the Shuanghuan CEO, which is almost identical to the BMW X5 from the rear. It can be ordered from the factory with BMW-style headlights, grilles, and EMBLEMS. I guess that's the Ultimate version?
Seadweller4000 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I wouldn't risk my or others life in a fake car. Nor would I use replica pills. Really something different to watches...
doc savage Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 I love my fake car, of course it doesn't have modern safety features but in that regard it's comparable to the real deal (1958 Porsche Speedster): I consider it to be about as safe as my sportbike--that is to say, not very.
predfan2001 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 (edited) I wish they'd copy some 60s musclecars. Edited January 24, 2008 by predfan2001
r11co Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 The Chery Amulet is a pretty nice looking car actually What have they done to ruin the safety of that car?! That is a replica of the old SEAT Toledo, based on the MKII VW Golf chassis which was a pretty safe car even by today's standard.
IanH Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 That's frightening Why do they even bother fitting airbags into something that just folds up when it hits something.
Johnkaz Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Wow those Chinese crash dummies really need to be well made!! Cheers Johnkaz.
Victoria Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 That's frightening Why do they even bother fitting airbags into something that just folds up when it hits something. Maybe they think if they run into someone in China, it'll be a bicycle... @Kenberg: Check again. I'm pretty sure it was 64 kph, that's why I wrote 40mph.
