Remember this case:

And this movement:

And this dial and handset:

Well, now the case looks like this:

So here is the ridiculous cost of my project:

Dial and hands Gen and NOS: $550.00

Case from NDT: $950.00

Gen 1560 Movement donated from 1963 Rolex Oyster: $800.00

Gen NOS bezel and insert including crystal retention ring: $250.00

Gen T-19 Crystal: $40.00

Gen crown/tube $60.00

Gen Bracelet w/580 end pieces: $200.00

Gen spring bars: $10.00

Gen caseback gasket: $2.00

Movement serviced assembled and cased by my watchmaker: $free

Total: $2862.00

Hunting down all the parts needed and pulling this project together.......Priceless!

Keep an eye on the Sale areas. I will be shedding a few MBW/MBK's as well as other watches and parts.

Oh yeah, just got this back from a trip to the spa:

Rolex high jeweled Quartz movement.

Opinions welcome.....even those that think I am nuts

O.K., here's my story and I am sticking to it:

I got this watch from a friend who inherited it from his dad. It kept terrible time so he sent to a watchmaker for service. The gilt dial and hands were replaced with a 5513 service dial and handset and the case was given a nice polish. The original bracelet was in bad shape so the watchmaker put a newer 93150 on it....hey, it could happen. The serial number on the case is 68xxxx so it dates it to the early 60's which is right for a pointy gaurd 5512, the movement dates from the same period and is the correct 1560 used on a handful of Chronometer 5512's. As for the dial, I sure wish I wouldn't have sold this:

Oh well, that's my story.... B)

You Sir are :bangin::D but I love your Rollie!!! :good: :good: :good:

Mmm pointy crownguards

I love those vintage subs!

Thanks, The Vodka helps.....hic!

Outstanding JAG!!! What a great job on those points.

I'm like "who the F is JAG?"..........oh yeah, me.

Thanks for the kind words...

Ok, no Vodka for me tonight...just beer lol. But did I read that right? Pointy cgs with a 5513 dial that has marker surrounds? Wouldn't that be a franken? You need a nice 60s style dial for that case. I tried to do the same thing but on my broke a$$ budget (I mean the style...just an ETA for me). Pointy cg 5513 with a replacement Tropic 39 (but I like it).

I think that looks great as do all of your creations.

When I find the right dial and hands, it will be made period correct.........gotta sell some MBW's :-)
