For your next trick, swim with it on. Just regular ordinary swimming. That's a real-world test. :)

Indeed. Odds are good though, if it stands the beer glass test...it can stand a swim test. :)

Good test idea. This will be of interest to anybody who's interested in a gold or partially gold watch.

....I'm trying to source out a Tuxedo Dial for it, but so far, nothing.

I've just looked on the bay and found the dial you are looking for...see with the seller for how much $ is he willing to let it go...probably it is a fake dial and don't know what the seller thinks about it...

BTW...I am looking forward to see how this test proceeds

Saunas can kill even water-resistant watches as they heat up metal and force parts apart.

Don't worry about the sauna, PUG, we'll see how far it could go! BTW: I might have the chance to do the swimming this weekend!

UPDATE!UPDATE!UPDATE: THE SHOWER TEST!!!!

But before that, let's get some bath gel on: .................................................BubblesBubblesBubbles:

Great Post and coincidently I've just come back from my watch maker who refused to take my money and pressure test a watch for me; perhaps you should offer this service. :D

Did you take all the pics with the waterproof camera?

As I have a similar one and my pics are so poor compared to your shining examples... Could you PM me your camera setting if you get a chance

Re: Camera...

Nope! I used the Olympus only for the shower shots...and the upcoming beach/pool/sauna/Jacuzzi test! The rest where taken with my Unbelievable Canon S1000.....sometimes I think it takes better pictures compared to my Nikon D70! Canon I think makes one of the best compact cameras.....

Nice post! I've still got alot to learn about disassembling watches! Love your workstation btw.

Was this to test the water resistance of the watch or the plating?

Thanks! You should check V's post in youtube, you'll learn a lot. The Zigmeister, Geormani, freddy and other members have some excellent post about disaasembly and vice versa! You should search for them! I learned a lot from them and built my confidence to open our precious little things! My main goal of this test is for the plating...., but I'm also happy with the results of my water resistant treatment of the watch!

Next do the famous "run-over-by-SUV" test!

That would be the last test....... :bicycle:

  • 2 weeks later...
I dare you to stick that into a dishwasher.

Dishwasher! Great idea. :)

I could do it! .....but how can I prove it....I can't fit in my dish washer to take the picture....maybe I could rig my camera to take a shot during the wash/spray cycle......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Interesting idea, though I already was thinking about it..... :thumbsupsmileyanim:

A container with rocks that spins. :o

Hahahahaha!!!! Now, that's really funny! That test would be the end of this watch! I'll just probably take it hiking in one of the Colorado Fourteeners next month and see if I could

bang it in one of those rocks up there!

I think we can trust you...just take a before and after shot.

Now this, I could do! I'm doing my dishes this Friday, so I'll load it at the same time!

Test pictures coming up soon!!!!
