I posted in that other members sales thread in the most polite way possible, but my point was clear. You don't have to thread crap to make a point...

Cheers! B)

Good point Mickey - however, having read the sales thread you refer and your post therein, it is clear that the passion that this debate has aroused, suggests others would, perhaps with justification, not be so subtle.

Just my noob 2 cents worth.

OK, so how much were the RWG 1 watches originally??? Should I retract my bid???

Oh, C'mon. That's different and you know it. In fact it's the opposite. You're being very generous, not greedy and frankly a little smarmy like the sellars georgio's talking about.

I think gentle thread crapping is appropriate, eg. asking the seller to elaborate how they arrived @ the price.

I think it's wrong that nobody ever says anything about it. I have to add that anyone who tries to sell a used Asian version of a watch for $100+ should be shot.

BOTTOM LINE...: Unless you are the buyer, or the seller, you should STFU!!....This simply IS NOT ANY OF YOUR BUSINESS!!

Threadcrapping is almost ALWAYS done only by self righteous horses asses..

WTF are YOU to get involved in a sales transaction between two consenting adults ??

If you think the watch is overpriced, by all means...DON'T BUY IT!!! <_<-_- -_-

IMHO, I think people are trying to recoupe their investment into a rep, i.e. upgrades and price paid for the rep. I don't think this is justified with exception of certain instances where a rep does appreciate, but I think that would be uncommon given that it is a rep. So, given the fact that a rep was "used" an owner who attempts to recoupe every penny invested is somewhat wrong. I think that most of those "types" of sales get noticed by noobs, like myself, who don't know any better and get taken. I, for one, almost lost interest in reps because of my personal bad experience, but decided to stay and give it a go because there are some genuinely great people here and I'm a believer that where there are a group of good people, good things will happen.

I'm not in favor of a "big brother" type of thing here, but I do wish that some of the more experienced and respected members take a more direct role with respects to continuation of our hobby. I'm still a noob and don't know much, but I try to impart what little knowledge and experience I've gained here. Hopefully, someone will gain from it.

What an imbecilic statement.

As a member of RWG I care enough about this community to let people know not to be fooled and defrauded by a dishonest or unethical seller. I would like to think others share this perspective as well; because when the time comes, it might be me who's on the receiving end of a bad deal and I want to know about it thank you!! I'm done...

It's interesting how many of the members here refer to this place as a "community" and not simply a forum - guess you're not one of those...

Many members are here because they were ripped off by a "swiss replica" or auction site. They are greatful to find a place like this and, understandably, begin to trust the members here and let their guard down. It is despicable to then go ahead and rip them off again under those circumstances.

Well put. I couldn't agree more.

Freedom to sell your reps is one thing, freedom to rip people off is another matter altogether...

+1 (that's a great sound bite)

Got something to hide? ;)

Why should we ever stand by and watch some n00b get a new [censored] reamed simply because no-one stood up and spoke? If someone is offering items for sale at rip-off prices, tell us. The noobs are happier and the community is happier. The only person standing to lose out is the twunt that's trying to fleece unfortunates because it's still cheaper than bluefakes.

If you're offering a watch for more than it sells for new, then yes, it's our business. It's our hobby and you're treating it like your playground.

Yes, I know the forum rules basically say keep out of other peoples' trades, but I'd like to propose we revisit them in the case of scammers and rip-off artists.

Personally as long as it is clear what work has been done, if some hard work has gone into it I don't mind paying upto a certain point to allow the seller to recoup their money. Blatant overcharging for a watch that can be made for much less is another matter. It is ok for the members who have been around for a while who can spot it, but less informed people may well end up buying a second hand watch for alot more than they should have.

Free market yes, but this community is here to protect people, so I feel that to a certain extent we should be able to advise people if a watch is overpriced. If done in a friendly manner through PM first, then if needs be, put a little opinion into their thread that the watch in questioncan in fact be bought brand new for cheaper! Respect for the seller is upheld, and the overall objective of RWG, to protect the community is also observed.

Hey guys, I am offering a new service that have been proved very popular in the past. I have a watchbox, and inside the watchbox, it has pillows. For those of you want to try out my service, simply send it to me, and I will watch it for you and put your watch on my watch pillows, and watch them go to sleep each night. 6 to 9 months later, I can ship them back to you for a modest fee of $25. But I promise you, each night as I watch your watches to sleep, it will be full of TLC. does anyone want my new service? ;);)

Sure, but at that point, we need to stop reporting eBay scams and globalreplica.

No such thing as a free market, especially not here, and let's not forget the reason we have these forums: To stop being ripped off and to help others avoid being ripped off.

I say crap on those threads. Call out the sellers. If it's a free market you want, crapping should be perfectly acceptable behaviour as the crappers are merely market forces. Free markets means no-one has anything to hide or hide behind.

ebay scams by definition contain lies

global replica lies about quality

AAA grade, ect

So you didn't make a point.

But, The Zigmeister makes the most important point, if you open up thread crapping in threads it will turn into a big personal battle. And i have seen too many of these get out of control.

Were here as a source for folks - why do we not just tell everyone who has the best sub - its about research. If your a newb, and you buy used, your taking chances

its no more offensive then when EddieLee ripped me off by saying he had some sort of exclusive that i bought a 400$ pam, which was worth, 200 or less. But i was a newb.

All the answers are out there, and opinions are like bung holes - everyone has one and they all stink! :)

picking fights will tear the board apart - don't get involved in other folks kitchen - unless they are lying in the ad.

Jesus F ucking Christ. Who are the morons that fall for this shi t?

Don't give me this "local availability" and less risk crap.

These are USED, FAKE watches. Threadcrapping on these guys should be MANDATORY!

I think the first reply to posts like these should always be: "Who are you F ucking kidding?

That'll be me, I'm afraid I will be having to put my hand up for this one. (........TBC.......)

That's up to you. If your happy, you didn't get screwed.

Here's the problem. Who's the judge. It's kinda like Porn. Who's the judge of that. What's one persons poison is another's treat.

You can't research prices as we delete all the old sales when they're done.

I'm sure we all have different morals and values, but I for one wouldn't just walk by someone being taken advantaged of if I can help it. For those of you who said that everyone should stay out of sales threads, what would you then do in the type of situation I just described?

Do you have a photo of this watch? Curious minds would like to know what exactly is a "limited edition bond sub". Omega perhaps?

It's probably not too much if it's the Seamaster 007 LTD edition from the old factory which closed 3 years or so ago. Otherwise, it's too rich for my blood. :whistling:

The simple fact is value is a relative term... I have overpaid for a few watches, but was perfectly happy to get them. WHY, because either they were CONUS and customs issues wouldnt exist, or although they were not out of production, they were only available from a dealer I didnt trust, OR I simply wanted them bad enough to pay a premium.

There were NO lies in these ads, the watches were described properly and I am pleased.

NOW, as I posted awhile ago (and have since been told that I should have never made such a post) OTHER sellers simply misrepresent the items being sold. Maybe I got it for a good price IF the watch was as it was described.

I am MUCH more concerned with the misrepresentation of items...

If you are referencing any of my for sale threads, then I ask that you specify which ones... Because I do tend to ask higher prices, but every watch I sold was either serviced (with a warranty) or modded AND each included Fedex overnight shipping. On a few of them, I DID have to lower the prices to sell them. But I personally think that even the original asking price was fair.

And as I stated above... what I feel is fair MAY be different than what you or others consider fair. As far as I have found, there is no MENU of watch prices along with relative modification values to go by.
