Sir-Lancelot
Nice. I received something similar in the mail from Glashutte. A hard back catalog and a DVD that is simply amazing. It goes into all the manufacturing steps even the hand engraving of the bridges, which is incredible to say the least. In fact I got two of them, so if someone wants the extra send a pm. First one gets it. edit to add the DVD has been promised to a good home of one of our supporters. Enjoy.

TomRiddle
i don't normally watch long vids, but this was thoroughly engrossing thank you so much for sharing it! someone get me a MBK PP Jumbo nautilus please
Stephane
I didn't see this yet, thank you so much for sharing. What fascinates me in the beautifull world of small pieces is that some humans can tear down the 456 pieces and put them back toghether. Nothing else but the verb "admire" comes to my mind. ironmarshal
Very cool video. I do have one question: why in the world do they use rhodium plating? Is it for some performance reason or just so that they can justify they high price (since rhodium sells for something like $9k per ounce)?

rkdk
super cool video. Really enjoyed their design dept. No wonder the nautilus is the only fresh looking watch from patek. They dont exactly look like the cutting edge types:-)
alt.watch.obsessive
"why in the world do they use rhodium plating?" Corrosion resistance I would imagine. Most "white" jewelry items are plated in palladium or rhodium I believe. I have mixed emotions about this video from Patek's perspective. These things are not quite as "handmade" as one might think. I would have featured a lot more of the assembly than the CNC machine. In addition, I would have reshot the scene of the balance wheel placement until it looked like it takes incredible precision. As it is, the assembler kind of throws it in there and shoves it in place. I was pleased to see they install the second hand the same way I do
