AP RO EOD Gen/Rep Comparison:

Recommended Posts

Which begs the question. With a rep like that, why buy the gen?

Because the gen is so so cool!!!

Nice watch Uncle J!!! That's my grail! Thanks for the pics... makes me feel so good seeing this watch!

When the come out with the rep of this with seconds at 12, there'll be no stopping me from buying it!

Unc...just awesome. Your comparisons like this are truly a privilege to see.

Can you do a side-by-side comparison of a gen vs. rep Patek Sky Moon? ;)

That EoD rep is good! There are some minor flaws...but nothing at all major:

- Date font / date mag

- Lume colour (only noticeable on a side-by-side)

- 12-o-clock stick marker

- 8-o-clock marker font difference / subdial overlay difference

But man...they even got the angle of the bezel screw heads right.

Very very nice!!

Some birds told me that we will see some more models coming out later.....it should be crystal clear they will do their former MBW hot-seller....the one and only, AP holy grail...EoD :D

....I wait for the new EoD and the rubber-clad....save some money first.

Yes. I understand that part. But you don't have to BUY the Gen.

See, the rep in your pocket is so close that when you try on the gen, you simply switch them. This way you get the added satisfaction of fooling someone on top of the savings.

I see your point but i dont agree :)

You will always think in your head its fake and going around telling lies is not all peoples cup of tea.

I never try to pass my reps as gen but thats me..

completely agree with Dani.....there is a huge difference in buying a gen plus the rep or just the rep.

I never fool anyone else but myself...allways tell the peeps "its fake...what do you think I am ... Rockefeller?" :D

But it gives you a good gut feeling to know you have the gen....simple, but I share the same feelings.

Rep-business and buying reps is ONLY for me, not for showing off....I beleive there are quite a lot members here acting like that.

Cheers,

Theo

You missed the SWITCH THEM part. This way you only have to lie once.

I know, leaving the poor sales guy holding your rep as you walk out of the store with his gen in your pocket is bad form and not very honest. But charging thousands upon thousand for a gen is not very honest either.

I've been into watches so long and have owned so many "grail" watches that everyone assumes what I wear is genuine. So, it's like the military, "don't ask, don't tell. No one askes, so I don't tell. But if they were to ask, I'd come clean.

About ten years ago while working part time at my then in laws pawn shop... The jewelery counter manager and I had two women switch a loose 4ct diamond on us. When they were given the stone in the forceps it SUDDENLY fell to the floor. They dropped a CZ at the same time and switched them below the counter.

It wasnt until two days later that we realized the switch had been done and went back to watch the video. We lost about $25k on that deal and I damn near got divorced over it. In hind site, I wish THAT had been the reason for divorcing her!

The tough think with swapping a watch is that they ALL have a label or sticker or hand tag on them. And most of these stickers or tags are made to fall apart when taken off so that they cannot be swapped.

How did we get on this topic again?
