UB7 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Figured i'd put this in a new post so by-tor can link this in the breitling sticky. I put together some quick and dirty comparison shots of my gen slate grey skyland and dave_nyc's rep. Hope this helps anyone who's on the fence about this rep. Besides the lume, this rep looks almost identical. Definitely one of the most accurate rep's we have seen in awhile. Enjoy 1
rocky78 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 WOW! Great pics, Thanks! edit: Does those chrono pushers seem longer on the GEN, maybe v1 was right after all...
southcoast68 Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Good lord this surpasses the "scary close" right into the "dead on identical" category as far as looks are concerned. How's the weight? it looks like it should be dead on as well. This makes me want to win the raffle even more now Thanks for the pictures!!
coolfire Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Oh man... This comparison is scary indeed... I was confused half the time while enjoying your pics, UB7... Thanks for these, surely whetted my appetite in getting one soon!
rckh Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Woo....Can I say actually the same?.......Terribly close to Gen..... God Damn it....I'm still waiting for my ETA7750 Skyland V.2 from Angus..... Best Regards, Raymond
coolfire Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Woo....Can I say actually the same?.......Terribly close to Gen..... God Damn it....I'm still waiting for my ETA7750 Skyland V.2 from Angus..... Best Regards, Raymond I salute you, Raymond... What did yours cost?
Tribal Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Fantastic Comparsion Many thanks for that Great Pics also
jdkno Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Yes very close, about the only things I can spot is the obvious and discussed lume dot mishaps, the 11 on the rep seems to be closer to the subdial than on the gen and the rep Breit logo seems less crisp in the wings area than the gen.
Fireman_Fred Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Great comparison shots !! Couple of things I noticed: the pearl on the rep looks larger than the gen and the "flying B" engraved on the clasp is noticeably different on the rep. I'm sure "in the flesh" these minor flaws are virtually invisible. I have the grey dial on order - can't wait !!
P4GTR Posted July 31, 2008 Report Posted July 31, 2008 Theres going to be some heated conversations in the 'ol Breitling boardroom at this rate. The lume at 4 and the clasp stamping issue... 9/10ths of the way keeps the CN Army away?
By-Tor Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Thanks for this nice comparison review. I have updated the Breitling Guide with a link to this article.
ta8088 Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Wow! I know there are a couple little things (the lume markers probably are the biggest thing) but man that is awefully close at least to my eyes.
_brian_ Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Thanks for the pictures! Great comparison... Come on people, let
jot9011 Posted August 2, 2008 Report Posted August 2, 2008 Woo....Can I say actually the same?.......Terribly close to Gen.... Close. The thing that jumps out at me is the heavy/large font on the "BRETILING" and wings on the dial. But you'd have to have a side by side with a gen to notice that.
Ferrarimen Posted August 8, 2009 Report Posted August 8, 2009 Thanks for the pictures! Great comparison... Come on people, let
RealReplica Posted November 6, 2009 Report Posted November 6, 2009 Scary indeed... One thing is for sure, if I ever decide on buying a gen Skylander I wont even think about Internet Auctions or Dealers. AD will be the only way to go and will probably have to certify it with breitling too
zaza Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 I noticed that too. I was cracking up. So silly that the rep looks better It's true! And very noticeable
bartkuip Posted December 11, 2012 Report Posted December 11, 2012 really nice comparison, I think they did a good job with the rep.
fraggle42 Posted March 17, 2013 Report Posted March 17, 2013 I see 9 fairly easy to spot differences in the close up dial shot. A lot of them are the spacing from the numbers to the lume blobs, the most obvious is the difference between the 7 and the 5, on the gen as you'd expect they're uniform all round the dial, on the rep the 7 (like lots of others) is almost touching, and the 5 is far from touching. Also the Bret logo is clearer on the gen, and most of the text below it looks a fraction smaller font on the gen, it just looks "right", and the date wheel font is also slightly too big on the rep, making it more difficult to read than the gen. Lastly the bezel numbers and markers, on the gen they have a dark look at the bottom of them, a matt finish, on the rep they're glossy, they look pressed rather than milled. Also the quarter hour markers on the bezel, they look as if they're part of the bezel on the rep and look as if they're separate items on the gen. Just my views of course
Granox Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) I have a genuine and one thing to look for (and you don't need a genuine side by side to the rep to compare) is that the luminous dot next to the date is always a smaller dot than the other dots on the originals. At least I hope it's an original LOL Edited August 1, 2013 by Granox
hansmeier Posted August 1, 2013 Report Posted August 1, 2013 The lume dot at 3 (date) position is on the rep smaller too... Or maybe Andrew sent me a gen...
Granox Posted August 2, 2013 Report Posted August 2, 2013 Yes you are absolutely right but on the original there is a clear gap between the dot and the edge of the date frame window.
hansmeier Posted August 3, 2013 Report Posted August 3, 2013 Gen is gen...But it's really amazing how good the reps nowadays are, how close the are coming to gen!I'm excited about the Avenger II series - hopefully they will be repped soon...
