Guest Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 SOmebody offered this to me and asked if its real or fake. I thought I knew a lot about reps and classified it as real just by feel, looks, sound of rotor, bezel ticks, and sealson the stem and of course nice crown guards but I wanted to open it up....I opened it up and was confused....Now I need your opnions before I offer to buy it. Never seen a real rolex on the inside so thats why I need your help..... heres to hoping its real.
ubiquitous Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 EPZ- I think $50 is being a bit generous, isn't it?
its_urabus Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 $50 is a bit high do you think? and yes I am being serious... I would not consider this watch... use the search here, and for $100 or so you can get a superior watch... good luck
LordRasta Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Wow not even close and I'm no Rollie expert.
Toadtorrent Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Real...for sure...real cheap!! That movement cracks me up. At least they "tried"to put in the red wheel. The movement isn't even worth the top dollar ($12) of a better quality DG2813. Don't buy it...it's junk.
wombat247 Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 El Fako. El fako di pappa mao mao El Fako. El fako di pappa mao mao
aliates88 Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 Hehe I was a noob, when I buyed a similar watch at my holiday in Italy: 25
jdavis Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 If you ever open a "Rolex" and see a plastic spacer, you know you're looking at a fake and probably a cheap one. Rolex would never install such a thing in any of their models.

RobbieG Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 If you do buy it, PM me and I'll give you some money for the movement. That one is worthy of my museum. There is a local WIS collector I would love to show that to. Gotta love the Chinese. Almost looks like a 3135 - well not really - but the rotor kind of does - maybe for starters they could make the reversing wheel red instead of pink? Love it...
RobbieG Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Not for nothing, but did you ever consider just typing "Rolex Submariner Movement" into a search engine and finding a picture to compare it to? If you want to learn about Rolex watches and watches in general so you can get good at evaluating all your future replica purchases you kind of have to get good at doing sopme simple research. Just a suggestion to help you in the future. SOmebody offered this to me and asked if its real or fake. JBond Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Replica from Morroco. The badest in the world!
Toadtorrent Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 Looks just like a DG2183 to me, but it is no noobmarina I'll trust Andy on this. I was thrown by the red wheel...so at least you know...it's worth the $12 for the movement.
takashi Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 indeed... This is really a very bad rep of Submariner. Wrong bracelet, bad movement (probably ticking at 21600bph), thick CG. Very very bad rep. Don't pay more than 20USD for such a watch.
dachshund Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 JCMIRO This isn't intended in a negative way, but if you can't tell that rep from a gen, you had better stay with an AD for gens or one of the trusted dealers here for a rep. Good Luck
fakemaster Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 You guys kill me. I am bookmarking this.
