Stephane
Wow! Game over! You're going to sell the 16610? Are you kidding me? That's a great watch! Oh no, the 16610 is never gonna go! It's such a complete package and my grail watch. It all started with that Sub, so no way I would keep any watch other than the Sub. I traded the 16600 (SeaDweller) for the 1680 + some
Nanuq
<thread hijack> Well said, Stephane. Hey there's a discussion on another forum about fitting a tropic-19 to a 1680. It should fit... do you know if it actually does? </thread hijack>

It should fit... do you know if it actually does? </thread hijack> No idea Nanuq...and I'm certainly not going to try on this one. Mine is a "square one" (not the service one "beveled") The tropic has been polished so much that it looks even better Aged to the max. I would have sreamed "sacril

alligoat
Stephane, that is a beautiful collection of watches. Of course, the fact that you hang out with Tribal could have something to do with it! Kinda like BK, you guys are Sub Cannibals! Congratulations on a fantastic collection. @ Nanuq, I'm thinking a T-19 won't fit on a 1680. From what I've seen, ID on a T-19 is 27.9, and a T-127 is 28.9. OD is 30.3 and 30.5 respectively. It stands to reason that depth of movements might be slightly different- date vs no-date. So, the cases are different, but with some similarities- just like the 1665- all take the same bezel insert... That's my 2 cents.
Nanuq
Thanks... my info came from a GS crystals catalog, that showed tropic 19 replacements having IDs within .02mm of the tropic 127. Go figure!
alligoat
Thanks... my info came from a GS crystals catalog, that showed tropic 19 replacements having IDs within .02mm of the tropic 127. Go figure! My info came out of the SK catalog, then I measured a G-S T-39- ID 28.06, OD 30.42 SK T-19- from Ofrei as seen on the web site as 279/305, ID 28.23, OD 30.45 Faisal Ali's T-127 ID 28.13, OD 30.35 Ofrei has 4 T-19's listed. So I don't really know. And I guess Rolex really doesn't like to share this information- these crystals may have been reverse engineered- kinda like our reps. I do know Ziggy has mentioned problems fitting plastic crystals. I do think they tend to vary. And my calipers are from Harbor Freight!

jmb
Why do we have to do this when my DSSD v5, Turn-O-Graph, Vintage black/red bezel GMT Master, and Explorer II are in various states of order/shipping/transit? I'll put together a cheapo-Sub "rogues gallery" tomorrow...

jmb
Here is a cheesy point-and-shoot, flash, low-rez pic of my motley collection - we've only had one day of sun in the past two freakin' weeks... The only really "good" sub I have is in the upper left which is my unmodified Noobmariner which will soon get a better looking crown. The Daytona in the upper right is one of idolreplicas' budjet a21j models and the other Daytona is also a budget a21j version. The bottom row is the bargain basement section: from left to right we have my "Super Submariner" project, Sub used as victim for first lug-hole experiment, no-date Sub project, virgin cheap Sub, Pepsi GMT Master II used in "crown and tube tut", and last virgion Sub. I have a eurotimez DSSD V5, Silix Turn-O-Graph, idolreplicas vintage black/red GMT Master, and "unapproved cheapo" Explorer II on the way. And I guarantee that's gonna be it for quite a while, if I order any more somebody please slap my a$$!!!!!
TeeJay
That's quite a collection, bro I would take photos of my Rolex collection, but it mostly consists of empty cases and half-completed projects The only truly wearable one, is the Snowflake Tudor, as I damaged the movement in the vintage sub yesterday through sheer laziness/clumsiness, and now the second hand moves as gravity takes it, which is part of the reason why I decided to order the 1655, rather than the DJ to continue 'project woody' I can see this being my future Rolex collection when all the projects are complete... Snowflake Submariner on NATO strap (for hot weather/extended low-light situations) Tudor Submariner (alternate beater) Wood-dialled DateJust (for 'dress situations') Black-dialled DateJust on leather strap (for more 'formal' situations) Vintage ExplorerGMT Hybrid (daily beater) GMTIICSubDweller (a project build purely for its own sake, which might not see much wrist-time ) (and whatever I can cobble together from any spare parts ) When I eventually get the LV Sub as the hand donor for my project, would you like the green insert for the 'virgin sub' on the bottom right? I wouldn't want it for anything, so if you'd like it, just let me know
