Is anyone else's HEV spring-loaded on this model? Mine will depress & release when pushed; anyone else try this or know if the gen does as well?

(my rep SMP pro chrono had an HEV that did the same when the cap was removed...)

I'd like to know if this appears to be the norm; not having to remove the movement would make it quicker/easier to waterproof test it in the ol' Bergeon.

Wow! This is like HE valve 101.

The He valve was developed to allow helium to escape the case during decompressurization. But at the same time, at pressure, the valve should be closed- can't let water in. The original valve was gasketed and could not press in much and spring loaded on the inside to allow air/helium out.

So I would think the valve might have a little bit of give to allow for compression against the gasket, but not much overall.

I guess the old adage may apply, "a rep is a rep".

I'm also curious about HEV construction. Is there any way of testing if an HEV is a functional piece, or purely decorative, without damaging the watch?

HEV spring-loaded on this model depresses & releasees when pushed...

It is made bassackward. Should pop out from inside...not in from outside.

Water pressure will open it and flood the case. Inside pressure will build up and not release (until the crystal pops out).

A replica is a replica.

A replica of a replica is a genuine replica.

bassackward = Southern slang

Took the words right out of my mouth.
