  2. Evening gentlemen, I have just joined the forum this evening and thought I would introduce myself within the sub forum as my main interest is with Rolex replica's. I currently have a cheap Deepsea copy but I am looking to obtain a much better quality Sub. I have emailed BK but does anyone have any other suggestions? Please appreciate that I am new to this so my questions may seem rather amateur in nature to begin with! Thanks in advance. Ben

  3. Keep in mind that these are old watches that have likely been serviced (& polished) multiple times over the years. So there is likely to be wide variations of wear & finish. I think it is more important that all of the parts appear to have the same patina rather than worrying about getting a curve or individual detail 'correct'. Most long-term Rolex collectors will tell you that a gen 'just feels right', which is another way of saying that everything appears to be the same vintage & nothing sticks out as being wrong.

  4. Yeah that's a tricky curve to replicate. Here's some more:

  5. Like Freddy said, pick a target and focus on it. And pay attention to the side profile of the CGs, they have a very distinctive shape. Here's a reference if it's any help:

  6. Looks good so far, but, as always, you should find & use a single gen as a guide & simply replicate the 'patina' on that gen. Otherwise, you are effectively somewhat blindly throwing darts at a dartboard.

  7. I knew it would come out soon, but the very week I receive my V6 114060, they release the V7. Go figure! http://www.pf-818.com/-p-20382.html I'm still very happy with the V6 I have in hand though...

  8. I was in the hunt for a nice 1675 or 6542 for a long time. As I am too ungifted to build a watch from scratch I bought some builds in rep fora but while they were optically nice they were all mechanical nightmares. Recently I stumbled over the Key West and took the plunge. It flew in yesterday. The whole quality of this watch, case dial, bezel, hands totally exceeded my expectations. Very nice.

  9. These are from MKII (mkiiwatches.com). You usually cannot buy them (except some models which are on general ordering). You have to preorder them and place a deposit of 50% of the watch price. The other 50% are due when the watch is ready for delivery. For some models this took like forever. Anyway for this model pre-ordering stage 2 has a long waiting list. This particular watch is in the 1600USD range. But I think realistically you can buy them only 2nd hand now. The whole MK2 story and its business model is very interesting and the quality is on par with gens from well known brands in the 2-4000€ range IMHO. The movements are usually swiss ETA. The designs are inspired by watch classics but they never just copy the design, but merge it with some modern aspects. There is a dedicated forum for the brand on watchuseek.

  13. 139 Posts and you haven't learned how to search? Whoopy12 is a member here who did several dial projects a couple of years ago. In the case of the 1016, he actually did two runs. There are plenty of posts about his various dials. Excellent quality. I used his 1016 and 5514 dials in my build. I don't think he has stick left so you're probably looking at M2M sales to pick one up at this point. Mary is AKA Watch International. She's been a TD on some of the other sites, but I don't think she is here. Her bracelet with the WSO 580 endlinks is about the best option for a 1016 other than gen.

  15. Good parts list. WSO 580's off eBay match up good with that case set and Mary's 7836. Here was my Whoopy dialed Franken.

  16. I like it! I have this Frankingston myself and really dig the dial.

  17. Born in the 90s! Dang. Everything I own was made before you were born. I used to work security at a concert venue. There was a whole lotta great music happening, now weirdly captured on CDs. Boy it sounded good live. [emoji450]

  18. If we could just cnc high quality custom made case and bracelet parts with a case that fits a regular 36mm datejust movement you would be there. But probably very expensive. I know a guy who sells cnc tools i will inform how much the costs are tomorrow. Just a block of stainless steel is probably not that much but the time and tools to cnc it are. Plus we would need an exact measurements 3d model convert it for cnc etc.. If one would measure a datejust case inside then build the oysterquartz case around it. Adding a clark saphire datejust gen dail and a chinese movement one could get very close. That is if the cnc quality gets close to the gen. I think there are aftermarket bezels for datejust 36 which one can also use not sure if they come non fluted also. would take a lot of time. Printing a cheap plastic 3d prototype on shapeways.com could be a first step. Then if the pricing is not to steep replicate the parts in stainless steel. Would be a real challange i guess. Anyone with a gen or rep 36mm datejust emty case that would be willing to measure it with a digital messurement tool? Or are there technical drawings of the datejust and or oysterquartz 17000 that could be used to build a correct 3d model that can be used for cnc ing?
